The concept of the speeding ticket system. Not you personally receiving a speeding ticket.

It makes me feel better than watching a car fly by at 70 miles an hour while driving my little sister to school.

...I guess that doesn't sound very flattering but I voted good

I understand the necessity of keeping people from speeding but tickets don't seem like a good way to me. People with money are just going to ignore them and pay the fine when they get caught. Maybe if there was a sliding scale for the fine based on your income, but I'm sure people would game that system.

pretty bad. I get the idea but in practice it's pretty shitty

I've seen and been the victim of cops who will sit right at the sign for a speed limit sign to catch people not slowing down fast enough

The college near me has a speed limit of 25 mph and students are ticketed nonstop, almost always for going between 25-30

I get it in terms of trying to catch people actually driving recklessly but in my experience that's almost never been the main focus

Legit just feels like a revenue stream for the city rather than anything meant to better the community most of the time. And as was mentioned earlier, it's one of those laws that rich people can easily just ignore.

I like the concept of encouraging safe driving and fining those that endanger others. Whether it's done fairly really depends on where you live - in my experience, it's been fine. Whereas stories from elsewhere...

Rich people can just ignore and pay speeding tickets? Is California weird in that it adds points to your record and you can have your license suspended or revoked if you get too many? It doesn't matter how much money you have to pay the tickets if you get points that can restrict your ability to drive legally.

If it's really egregious, then yes you get points on your license in PA.

If you go to court you can usually argue it down for there to be no points added.

If your ticket comes from another state then you don't get any points.

So yeah it's basically used to add driving costs to out of towners (often college students, as mentioned above) and as a revenue stream for the locality. At least in OH and PA, many police departments have monthly quotas that they're incentivized to reach.

So bad, especially when the road is three lanes wide and CLEARLY SHOULD BE A FUCKING 100 and it's just a fucking 80 and I get caught there THREE FUCKING TIMES before I realize I've been accumulating speeding fines

Terrible
They are too low most places and the actions to keep cars slow are getting worse over the years.
"Safety!" but it's nothing more then a money grab.

yup, I'm in PA, and the cops definitely seem to view everything as a for-profit business

It's great when they send a cop out in the street and just make everyone pull in. They handout tickets and do it again.

I'd be ok with tickets if speed limits were increased in most places. They are far too low in far too many places. With that being said, in the Orlando area it's very hard to get pulled for speeding since basically everyone goes 10-20 over the limit with no repercussions.

Although speed bumps annoy me more. Especially the ones where you have to slow down to like 5mph to not fuck up your car. What's the point of having the speed limit be like 30-35 if you're going to have bumps every 100ft which force you to slow down to 5. At that point the speed limit for the area may as well be like 15 not 25. They seriously need to design speed bumps that only mess up your car if you're exceeding the posted speed limit

Oh man, they just installed the stupidest speed bumps around the corner from me. 3 sets of the pointy hard plastic ones. I hate these and hate whomever in the city who thought they would be a good idea. I now drive the slightly longer way just to get around them, they legit feel like they are damaging my car.

It used to be that the city would try things, people then complained, and they would remove those said things. Now the city is basically like, you do as we say...screw you. So I don't ever see them being removed.

That person would get a ticket for dangerous driving, not speeding.
