E3 2019 kicks off unusually early this year (2 days before EA happens), and it happens to be a new entrant into the video game field - Google.

The Google Press Conference will be focusing exclusively on their Google Stadia game console. I don't expect much interest in this press conference because Google Stadia is an online-only, cloud gaming console. More details will be shown in this press conference, most likely including launch games, launch price, and release date.

Probably the second one. Obviously it will be very telling as to whether "E3" is actually mentioned at some point during the press conference. If they don't mention E3 during the press conference, that would suggest that they don't see it as an E3 event.

I always post these topics on the same day the press conference will happen. Which means it will happen sometime today. EA happens on June 8th and Google happens on June 6th, so that's why I said "2 days before EA happens".

As far as Stadia goes, I was part of the beta program last year where they let you stream Assassin's Creed Odyssey to your web browser and I was surprised how well it worked. Depending on how they've improved it since then they might have something real on their hands here.

Granted ACO isn't the type of game that requires frame perfect inputs like a racing game or a fighting game so it's really yet to be seen how well it REALLY works

You can preorder the "founder's edition" of Stadia for $169CAD today, which includes the gamepad, a Chromecast Ultra (which is 6cm in length), Destiny 2 and three months of subscription

Stadia works through a subscription only at first. The Stadia Pro sub costs $11.99CAD per month and will include streaming up to 4K/60fps. Note that only "older" games will be included in this sub, and more recent games will have to be bought separately.

It's actually $9.99 per month. I initially misread the price due to the stream not having the price listed on the stream for very long before moving onto something else.

ehhhhhhh i guess that's alright, I dunno, so you're paying like $60 for a game but for an extra $10 you can stream them instead in dubious quality depending on the stability of your connection in maybe 4k 60fps if you have the right TV to even display that

again i play like 8-10 games a year so getting them in 4k isn't a big deal for me

i'd like to know who this is marketed towards, i feel like people who really really care about 4k 60fps hdr already have gaming PCs and people who don't care... don't care

it's an interesting product tho but I wonder if it will work at all. i can see this being on that giant list of cancelled google products in two years.

Depending on what you actually get with the Stadia Pro subscription it could be worth it for a month here and there. Kinda same with the controller, if the latency difference is really noticeable between it and another controller it could be worth it but man it will take a lot to get me to stop using my Elite.

the right to play them in 4K 60fps

which to me is the entire point of using the fucking thing, like why would ANYONE use the free version of this? you still pay the same for the games but it only goes to 1080p so... just buy it for PS4 or something and don't worry about needing to be on the internet and also have a physical copy idk
