Like Mario, Metal Gear Solid, GTA...

What's going to happen in a couple decades when the people who made those early games start dying out, will the series go on without them?

And we're going to die before we get to see the conclusion of some of our favorite stories :(

I'm sure they'll go on as long as they remain profitable.

There aren't going to be "conclusions" to most of those stories. Just like there's not conclusion to Mickey Mouse.

It just makes me wonder about something like Assassin's Creed where there is theoretically a conclusion to the overarching story and yet there isn't at the same time.

I mean, you're already seeing this with Metal Gear Solid. It might have killed the franchise though.

Technically, I think you're already seeing this with Zelda as well. IIRC, Miaymoto isn't very involved with Zelda anymore and has pretty much left it in Eiji Aonumas hands for the better part of two decades now.

I'm not even sure how hands on he's been with Mario.

It'll be a sad day when Miyamoto finally kicks it

It's going to be a sad day when Miyamoto dies. I don't know how much of Nintendo are still left from the Yamauchi era but I'd bet all the money in the world the company will start to die once they're all gone. The new guard already seem to be abandoning the old core philosophy of the company.

Maybe not for gamers or other developers but he had the best business sense and long-term vision. Iwata even said as much that his main goal was to continue his vision.

Assassin's Creed did end the Juno/Desmond arc a few years after 3.

In a comic book.

Yep.

Now it's just gladiator fantasies from here on out
