Because Cardcaptors isn't a real show. It's a broken, butchered, censored, chopped up, mutated abomination of a dub, completely unrecognizable from the actually good show that it originally was. I normally like English dubs, but that specific dub deserves to die in a fire for how much it changed from the original Cardcaptor Sakura.

4kids version was heavily censored and lot of the content was cut so it didn't have a chance to shine. It also aired in mid 2000 when people have grown out of Anime. If people still watched Anime it was usually hardcore nerds who torrented and Anime was still a stigma at that time. Cosplay wasn't mainstream yet.

Sailor moon took over the magical girl genre, and Cardcaptors was a little too...90s 4kids level crap.
