They really couldn't come up with a unique moveset for him?

I think in Ultimate they really moved him away from that from what I hear. He has a sword now, and he's faster than he was in previous games.

I loved using Ganondorf in Smash 4.
He was really bad in that game but that just made it the more satisfying when you won against better characters : )

It's literally because they have the same body shape

Any kind of change from previous games is avoided because it might alienate old fans

It's the whole reason Super Smash Bros Ultimate is 99% old shit.

Because it takes a lot of work to make a unique moveset and he's similar enough to Falcon that they could make him into a clone.

This, although it's a pretty shitty one. Imagine the outrage if Ganondorf were just now being added to Smash Bros. and he turned out to be a clone. Or if Ridley and K. Rool were Charizard and Bowser clones. It looks like they're trying to change him up a bit more, but you would think the main villain in one of Nintendo's most popular series would be treated better.

If they don't want to change him up, they could always add Toon Ganondorf.

This is true. But you would say that. You just need more Ganondorfs, it seems...

Name checks out...

Why not Old man Ganondorf(Twilight Princess) that has the current or Smash 4 moveset and then the Younger(and more agile) Ganondorf(Ocarina of Time) that has a new moveset complete with Swords and maybe magic/projectiles?

I still like Ganondorf's Twilight Princess design dammit >___<

That. Originally, it was because Melee was super rushed and they happened to have similar enough body types to make it work. Since then, it's just been a matter of avoiding change, because fighting game fans get uppity when established characters see major changes.

Well, if you spent hundreds and hundreds of hours mastering one character's moves how pissed would you be if they changed in the next game and you had to do it all over again? That is why people say that with fighting games, you can add new stuff but you should never change or remove existing stuff. It works for other genres, but not fighting games.

Anyways, I love Ganondorf, unlike a lot of characters you have to be really strategic with him because he is so slow compared to the rest of the roster. However, it only takes a few successful moves to KO a character because his moves are so devastating.

couldn't you just play captain falcon then, if they are the same (I don't play smash)?

or learn the new one if you prefer that

Maybe theyre bad with him because of how fast he is. Plus, it would take longer and more hits to do why G would do it less time and hits... maybe...

Captain Falcon plays completely different. He has the same move set, but is a lot faster (and hits a lot weaker). To compare it to Street Fighter, it is like trying to play Ryu vs. Akuma. Similar moveset, but way different strategies.
