Well, the show isn't like...BAD per se

but it loses out on alot of what the games bring. The epic moments don't feel too epic, he solves everything too fast, etc

part of what makes the game great are your own Eureka moments IMO

watching the cases here feels empty alot of the times

but I WILL say I do love the dialog, the interactions with Nick and Maya...and yea, Maya herself

so yea, its ..a mixed bag is probably what I meant to say

Seeing Maya in action is one of the best parts of the anime. It definitely raised my opinion of her as a character.

And yeah, everything ends up being kind of rushed because they have to cut so much out, but I still enjoyed seeing them put their own twist on things.

Except for 2-4. They kinda botched that one.

Still a cashgrab. Still stuck with messed-up pacing. Still bad.

Still gonna watch the eventual dub, though.

On a more interesting note, the show actually started Case 3-2 at around the same day that the case actually happens in the localization: October 12, 2018.

Yeah, but you'd think they'd try to use it and the amnesia premise as a really paper-thin excuse to make the first episode of the 2 cour into an obnoxious recap episode. Plus, the extremists would complain about how the show isn't literally doing exactly what the game did, like all those people on anime forums who say that the only reason light novel adaptations suck is because "they didn't adapt the source material properly/identically".

This is the modern anime industry. It's not about making quality products, it's about saving costs and padding episodes as much as can be done without hiring more contractors. Would you be surprised if I told you that the studio that produces this anime regularly has at least half a dozen other shows on its plate at the same time, all on weekly episode release schedules? Or may I remind you of Sword Art Online Season 2, also done by this studio, where most of the episodes's lengths were filled with reused footage, fanservice panning shots, obscenely lengthy slo-mo, and even an "Episode 14.5" recap episode DURING SYNDICATION because they failed to make their deadline for the next three episodes?

I don't know. There's pretty much no reason for 3-1 to exist if 3-4 is shown either right before or after it, beyond the detail of how it's the first time Mia and Phoenix ever met. To have that moved back in favor of 2-1 just seems messed up in terms of storytelling.
