Outside the cape, he doesn't have much going for him. Hes got some man titties, hes naked, yea, a Ventriloquist dummy. Hes actually super plain

Ever since people have been Hella on board with him being in Smash, especially lately, I've slowly become unhyped for him

No offense to people who are excited to have him in Smash but I've always found Geno to be a boring character - like, kind of the most boring aspect of SMRPG in general really

He just... doesn't do much? I LOVE the forest segment of the game and everything that comes with it, including Geno, but after that he's kinda whatever. He's just kind of a stoic cool guy I guess, he doesn't really do that much. I always liked Mallow way more.

Mallow's a cool character! He has a lot of personality, he has a fun character arc, he plays well with the game's comedy stylings, and overall I just feel his impact a lot.

Nimbus Land is my favorite part of the game because of how great Mallow is.

I think Geno's cooler as a concept than with his character/personality. "Doll that got possessed by an alien" is neat enough, and that combined with him being one of the strongest characters in the game was enough that I really loved him as a kid.

I've come to prefer Mallow as I got older though, since he has more personality, and has more to say throughout too.

I agree on the sprite vs the concept art too. I think you're right hat the sprite's emphasis on cape over "naked puppet' may be part of it.

Geno and Mallow are both cool but Geno is the popular one so I have more opportunity to support him

His nature as a puppet is part of why Geno is so cool. It adds to it, not detracts

I guess these full body pictures look a little funny but that's because he wasn't designed for that view. He'd be more fleshed out if he was.

Yeah Geno fucking sucks and the only reason so many people want him in Smash in 2018 is bandwagoning. It made sense for some people to want him in Melee or whatever but now its largely a self-fulfilling prophecy

I will say, just thinking about smash character concepts (not the characters themselves), I would rather see Mallow with his moveset than Geno.

Yeah, Mallow being a crybaby was definitely one reason I liked him less as a kid. Upon replaying it when I was a bit older though, I noticed Geno was all business, where most of what he says past the Forest Maze and Rose Town are just simple things like "we need to go to so-and-so for the next star!", whereas Mallow's lines often show more personality, and he's even lot more spunky than I remembered (comments like wanting to rip Croco a new one, for example).

Character design/cool factor can definitely count for a lot, though. I know it did when I played the game as a kid.

hes considered a cry baby but he only cries like, two or three times (And one of them is hella justified IMO)

granted thats 2 or 3 times more than any other character, but hes not THAT much of a baby

I mean... it was really obvious that he was supposed to be a big puppet. That was the whole point. He was a child's toy brought to life. I wouldn't consider his design to be unusual or surprising.

And I do like it regardless. Beyond that, Geno is just a fantastic character, so what's the problem?

I'm hoping if Geno's in they include Mallow in his FS. They'll probably just use Geno Whirl, but I would be down for Mallow showing up and dropping a big ass snowman on someone's head

Just because he'll be in Smash doesn't mean he'll do well in a Character Battle.

Lucario in the 2008 contest, taking years for Isaac to win a match are a few examples.

His win-loss track record is atrocious, damage already has being done on him.

The field is littered with characters from Super Smash Bros. already that he's overlooked.

People debate if Geno is a Square character OR a Nintendo character.

Because of that Geno suffers from SFF than ANY other character in a Character Battle.

Doesn't help the fact that he never has any spoken dialogue in the game he originated from.

Let's watch Subspace Emissary cut scenes (THE REASON WHY BRAWL GOT DELAYED IN THE FIRST PLACE) with no voice acting at all whatsoever. Thrilling. No. Just no.

Well I think if you were really going for that kind of ironic charm making him look cute would have worked a lot better. Make him more of a plushie type doll or something rather than a stone faced dummy.

I picture it being a more vertical stage, with the bottom half having more obstacles overall (Snifits, teeter totters, maybe Chain Chomps), and the top part being a bit more stable/safe, but Booster circles the top part on his train and occasionally rains bombs down on anybody up there.
