I used to play RuneScape a ton back in the day. The 2K games can be hard to stop coming back to,

I probably should have been in rehab for MW2- 30+ days of playing time (maybe more by the end).

I have memories of getting up in the middle of the night to play Runescape.

This gen , Xcom 2 and the Forza Horizon series have really gotten their hooks in me.

Helldivers, clocked 1000 hours on it and would have played more but I forced myself to stop so I can work on my backlog.

Been playing Counter-Strike (various versions) and Football Manager for as long as I can remember.
Everything else eventually faded away, but not these two.

Diablo II: LoD, no question.

"Just one more run and I might find that godly item!"

Plus, it's just a damn fun game. All the character classes are unique and great in their own ways. Skills like Frozen Orb, Whirlwind and Corpse Explosion are a blast to use (pun not intended :P).

The atmosphere is also a large part of the appeal. Some say only the gameplay matters, but that side of things has kept me playing just as much.

Then of course there's the co-op aspect. If you find some good people to play with, it's amazing. The classes all synergize well with each other. Necros have Curses, Palas have Auras, Barbs have Warcries, etc. to help other party members.

Heroes of Might and Magic 3

I would be playing for what felt like 30 min and look at the clock to find that 6 hours passed by.

Warframe. I've got 842 hours of playtime according to Steam.

Next closest is probably Final Fantasy X. I've had several 100+ hour save files on various playthroughs of it over the years.

path of exile, probably

it's the best design of fremium i've ever seen. the one and only time i've ever spent money on a free game (bought the currency stash tab which really improved the experience and was worth the $10)

It was D2 until Path of Exile.

Been playing since early beta and it just keeps getting more addicting. I planned on taking a break from the current league but played the launch weekend because I had a work trip canceled and had nothing to do. After hitting 93 with the first one I'm now working on a delve specific build and have taken a break from nothing.

yeah, POE just has a lot more content than a typical player will ever complete

gets to be pretty fun when you manage to complete a build that can start selling its services. when spectre summoning peaked, i ran a service that did vaal temple for people for free, in exchange for half the last hope drops that fell. usually i would get one, host would get one. fair trade. everybody wins!

shame that they broke the atziri gloves. apparently now last hope is worthless, but people still sell vaal temple maps for a bunch. no idea why anymore.

had some fun experiences doing double boss on that map. 8 bosses at the same time pushed my specs to the limit.
