Sent it back, and now I'm back to using my 32" Toshiba LCD that I've used since 2007 with no dead pixels, until a replacement arrives.
Can LED TVs have these types of problems too? If my replacement has dead pixels I may just get a refund and fork out the extra cash for an LED -___-

Are they as common with LEDs as with LCDs though? I remember my old Benq PC monitor was LCD and had the same problem, as well as older PC monitors from the early 2000s. Maybe I've just had bad luck. :/

In 2006 I was playing Perfect Dark Zero on my 360 with a 20" CRT Toshiba flatscreen with stereo speakers,that I bought with my allowance and I thought looked/sounded amazing at the time, because I was so used to playing on a 19" curved mono TV. >_<

I'm so out of the loop with TVs and I generally stuck with the brands I recognize while shopping (Samsung, Sony, RCA etc.), and I've seen this TCL brand before but always glanced over them. Thanks for the info. I'll look into it.

the led in led tvs is just what type of backlighting it uses

it's still a tn panel, so yes, dead pixels can occur.

Wait, the RCA is an LED lol, my bad.
And yes, I already shipped it back and am waiting for a replacement. My Toshiba was manufactured in 2007 and no dead/stuck pixels whatsoever.

I googled and apparently there's software you can download for Windows that can actually fix them.
If this happens with my replacement I'll just bring the whole TV to my PC and try it.
It's a damn shame because the picture was soooo good and I was really happy with the RCA TV otherwise, just these 2 little dots. -_-

I think it's a flashing pattern of colors. Not exactly sure how it works or how they get stuck in the first place. Yup, bit of a shame a whole panel is 'faulty' for just one or two pixels but I know it would be annoying to see every day.

LCD and LEDs are the exact same type of TV. You do not determine the panel by the backlight used. The distinction is strictly for marketing, even the manufacturer names for LED TVs are "LCD XXX".

I bought a ~$400 4k ~50" RCA TV (can't recall if LED or LCD, LED I'd guess), which was an amazing price. it had a dead pixel, but I think I could have lived with that. what it had that was way worse was "banding".

there were basically 4 vertical bars across the screen at all times. depending on the color of the picture, it might sort of blend away and you wouldn't notice for a bit, but then the scene changes and bam you're staring at 4 discolored vertical bars again. watched the movie Logan on it, and then promptly returned it.

The CRT Toshiba I used back in 2006 had that exact problem and I remember going through the picture settings for hours just to make the bars stop being visible. Eventually I found that lowering the contrast worked.
Horizontal bars on the screen during brighter scenes. It was awful.
