Amazing that our president is such a manchild that this is real life

Following the ruling, Gu revealed that the plaintiffs have already discussed next steps with their legal team. One option is to ask the judge to issue an injunction which would, in essence, force the president to unblock us, Gu said.

Although the judicial branch cannot order the president to act, Gu said they could potentially order the White House Director of Social Media to execute the unblocking. The judge can order Dan Scavino to actually unblock. And that wouldnt run into any kind of constitutional roadblocks."

So people are getting triggered by being blocked on a social media site? Like, so upset that they're going to court over it?

Sure, Trump's a fucking idiot, but god damn man.

Seriously - its sad, but the surprising outcome would have been if the clown-in-chief showed respect for the ruling and immediately complied without complaint.

They sued because they were selectively prevented from viewing public statements by the President of the United States. That's illegal and the court agreed.

The bigger issue would be not be able to respond to Trump tweets as that would cross the line on the 1st amendment as a government body was preventing another person from saying what they want.

It's something that was bound to come up sooner or later in the era of social media, and I assume this is exactly the sort of thing the "Knight First Amendment Institute of Columbia University" (which is who filed the lawsuit) exists for.

Interesting that the court apparently has no ability to enforce it.

So Nikki Haley getting in trouble for making official statements on her personal Twitter account is a red herring by Dems?

You can't have it both ways.

It's illegal to selectively prevent people from viewing official statements regardless. Blocking prevents a user from retweeting and commenting on tweets as well. Like the ruling said, Trump is free to disregard input but not allowed to block it entirely.

Seriously.

Go back to like 2009. Was Twitter a thing then? If not then go back to when it started being a thing. I didn't start using it til like 2011. Anyway...

Saying "In 2018, the President of the United States of America will be sued for blocking critics on Twitter" would almost sound as crazy as "in 2018, the President of the United States of America will be Donald Trump"
