Expensive, I guess. And no needed on all vehicles. Not to mention, all you need is another person with you who wasn't drunk, I would assume... And if everybody had them, it would make it easier for people to find more ways around them...

Uh, if I was sober and with a drunk person, I wouldn't just blow into the breathalyzer, I'd drive the car.

Also I am sure people would find ways around it. Though I have heard of programs where someone with a DUI has gotten it installed into their vehicle

Personally, I would, too. But it happens. Sometimes because they trust the other person. Sometimes because they really need a ride and the other person won't let them drive. But it does happen. That's why don't drive to the bar, always have a DD(we know people who like to hang out but hate drinking), and plan to spend the night at whoever's house I drive to while I'm sober.

If the other person blows into that isn't the driver, that should be considered a criminal act and if a accident happens they are just as liable as the driver. Sure you van get around it, but if you are in a accident and it is found out you bypassed it, it should be added years. That's how you get people from not going around it. If just pulled over, both should get penalized with a DUI.

Maybe. Maybe not. They are drunk and maybthink that they can get home without an accident. So, they wouldn't think they would get caught. It may stop some people, but probably not all... Not to mention that they could've dropped the other person off anywhere. And may. Or have even known who it was. In the case of charging the other person...

The usual assumption isn't "Hey, your sober passenger will blow into it for you", it's more "Hey, I'm going to offer that stranger over there $5 to blow into it for me". And plenty of people would be willing to take that deal because they don't really know you or give a fuck whether or not you ever make it home.

It would be nearly impossible to prove someone did it, unless you're also installing some sort of DNA tester into the breathalyzer, a tandem retina scanner of some kind, or forcing every car to have a camera that automatically takes the picture of the person blowing into it. At which point you start straying into "Fuck Big Brother" territory, which is where most Americans start setting things on fire.

People didn't want to buy the Xbox One with a mandatory built-in camera, most people aren't going to want a built-in camera that exists solely to stool pigeon on them.

because they're notoriously unreliable and make the car just as bad as a drunk driver.

they will frequently make you have to take a test WHILE driving, and if you don't do it (because, yknow, you're fucking driving) it will just shut the car off.

I was thinking about that, too. It would be kind of annoying to have to do that constantly... especially on like a 24 hour drive...

A breathalyzer is $80, it's cheap and it could go in every car.

That would be fucking stupid though. Just think about it. Your car that you bought won't start unless you reach down and put your mouth on some dirty thing each and every time in addition to using your keys. That's insulting.

Some people don't like being treated like children. Automatic driving will make drunk driving irrelevant anyway.

I was going off that the person with them was the passenger and was in the car with them. Of course if it was some random person they wouldn't get caught lol of course you have to prove it too. I am simply saying of they are caught and the passenger was the one proven to have done it, they should also get a DUI. Not saying the passenger right then and their should but hey, sometimes it just might be pretty obvious. Of course if the person isn't their to get cuffed or figeres for doing it, they aren't gonna go on a city wide hunt lol

Oh yeah, just have the cops show up for their monthly car and house inspection for security camera maintenance. Just put your hands on your head and face down on the floor if you don't want to get shot. Brilliant!

As someone doesn't drink and who's job involves driving and getting into and out of a car roughly 15-30 times in a work day, that sounds annoying as fuck if you have to do it every time you start the car. Less so if its just once per X amount of time.

They are terrible pieces of equipment.
They break so often then your car just won't start.

A girlfriend of mine had one for 2 years and it was sooooooooo bad. You had to pay 100 a month to get it "calibrated" then even after they did that it would still give us error messages. Fuck that scam
