Yes, but not nearly as big of a jerk if he simply cheated. Like the difference between a Chihuahua and a Saint Bernard. They're both still dogs, but one is a much bigger dog.

Would depend on how he broke up with her, and if he was planning to try and get back together with her after he'd got the screwing around out of his system.

I'd probably also factor in the state of his relationship before the opportunity to get some strange popped up in the first place - if you're in a miserable relationship and your girlfriend is a massive bitch, taking the opportunity to escape that mess in favor of hooking up with someone else is way more understandable than if you're in a relationship with a sweet, loving, compromising girl who usually lets you get your way, and you're really only dumping her because some easy chick with bigger tits decided to spread her legs for you.

Technically he wouldn't be a cheater since they broke up first. However, if he had replaced his girlfriend rather quickly after the break up then there would he assumptions to his loyalty towards his old gf while they were together. If he already had someone lined up right after the break up, then that would mean that he had been unfaithful (up to what degre will be anyone's guess) even before they broke up. But obviously, that'll just be an assumption by others.

So no I don't think he'd be a cheater but I would he inclined to think that he's not exactly a model boyfriend either.

On one hand, said guy is technically not cheating. On the other hand, "the body is still warm" so to speak. Still, better than the alternative I guess, cheating prior to a breakup.

I do wonder how cheaters could justify wanting a safety net as a reason to cheat. It just seems overall selfish. Said cheater would rather play with the other person's emotions than risk being alone? Of course being a cheater they don't care about anyone but themselves if they want a safety net to fall back on so it's almost futile to try and understand them. The worse I think though are the folks who use their partner as a stepping stone to get to someone else.
