Both my wife and I have had maybe 5 minutes of conversation with this dude. Hes practically a stranger.

Sister-in-law poses this question three hours before my wife has to leave for work. Copped an attitude when she said shes not comfortable with that. Now, we have no sitter. Wtf

Mind you, my wife and I just helped her replace her car. Last fucking favor she ever gets out of me.

That sucks man but it's for the best. I wouldn't let anyone I didn't trust around my kids if I had them. It's up to the individual who they date but just because they are dating said person that doesn't mean the rest of their family automatically trust them. Even more so with probably one of the most important things in the world to said family such as their kids.

Yeah, this after she said Im stupid for disagreeing with her stance on attending the circus. But I figure its water under the bridge. Shes young and passionate about animals, and I dont care if she thinks Im stupid. Benefits my family if she has a car, because then she doesnt have to borrow my mother-in-laws car and my MIL can be more available to babysit.

Theres more to the story. Apparently, my mother-in-law, who usually watches the kids, couldnt because she was going to register the car we just bought for my sister-in-law...

My sister-in-law is 21, and cant register a car for herself because she doesnt know how to adult properly, so she took a big shit on my wife and I, her mother who was trying to help her, and herself who now has to wait another day to get her car, all because we dont want some dude we hardly know in our, around our kids.

We didnt even mention that this dude is an addict. Just that we dont know him well enough yet.

Thats just it, I know addicts. Been around them my entire life. My wife and I arent trying to pass judgement, but this dude is almost a complete stranger.

And he almost got my mother-in-law thrown out of her apartment for dealing drugs out of her place. But again, Im very sympathetic toward addicts. But that sympathy doesnt extend to the point where Im willing to jeopardize my childrens safety.

I grew up with addicts around me, and now the best part of my job involves kicking their asses to the curb and replacing them with real people. I have absolutely zero respect, use, or concern for them, and would never give one a chance after I found out they even went dry. Way too risky, and it only encourages their bullshit.

I used to be an opiate addict. Been off of them for about 3 years. It is possible for people to change and better themselves, tho I also didnt get anywhere near as bad as a lot of junkies I hear about do.

Well the guy is supposedly in recovery. You're not allowed to live at the sober house if you're using (it's like a post-rehab facility), and they drug test regularly. But you may be right. I hope not, for my sis-in-law's sake, and everyone, really.

Nothing wrong with being an opiate user. Being an opiate addict does not make for a good baby sitter though... does that really need explanation?

Really though the key thing I'm hearing is your babysitter wants to bring a guy you don't even know, over to your house, with your young kids, while you're not home... I'd pass on that opportunity as well. This babysitter also sounds like a bitch, so it's reasonable to assume she has poor taste in men.

110% the right decision not to allow him in your house around your kids, or even just into your house in general. He's not just an addict, he's a pusher, and they bring all kinds of trouble around with them, both from the police and from other sketchy drug people. I've known several two-bit dealers in my life, they were all terrible people and I'm glad I have nothing to do with them or anyone like that any more.

Junkies are parasites, do NOT let them into your lives. If they don't steal from you outright you can bet they'll eventually rip you off. As far as recovering addicts go I feel they're already tainted and it's just a matter of time before they relapse.
