Oh, right. The remake of Ocean's 11, but with an all woman cast. I have no idea how it will go, so I'll reserve judgement. It can't be any worse than the new Ghostbusters, can it? They surely have more clever writing, and actresses with more charisma than a fart joke, right? At least it isn't a 1:1 remake, so that's something. You can only steal from a casino so many times before it gets stale.

George Clooney was married to a 'Mrs. Ocean' in the original remake trilogy, but unless they've only changed the actress, and it's the same character, then it's a remake.

Aside from the first point, this is virtually every heist movie. And there were lots of these elements in Oceans 12 and 13, but nobody called them "remakes."

I gave it some thought, and I think having an all female cast would have been better if this was a prequel and the main character would have been Linus' mother when she was in her 20's doing jobs with her lady squad. That would have been interesting!!

Also, those people in the YouTube comments are wrong. Ghostbusters didn't lose because of its all female cast - it lost because it had poor writing, poorly executed jokes, poorly cast characters, and was just a poorly cut version of the original movie. Then the actresses and director/writer decided to attack everyone who didn't want to see it, like it was their moral and social obligation to see this get off the ground. Fuck, try making a good movie. You did Bridesmaids, which was a good movie. That didn't work here, because everything about the movie was obnoxious.

It's the first point that paints the truest picture of the movie. It starts the same way. It starts the same way. Again, we haven't seen anything that would denote it as a sequel (sequential in a series) or a spin-off. There is nothing tying it to the remakes or original. It's following the formula of the George Clooney remake, and until we see any connection to the original, I'm treating it as a remake.

Isn't that exactly what all the super hero movies are doing? Ever since the writers strike and the recession people have noticed a lack of creativity in Hollywood and a need to ride other movies' success. This really isn't new.

Oh, so they've actually established that she has a connection to the George Clooney character? Ok, that's good. I'd only watched the trailer, and I didn't see any of that in there. I may need to watch it again. At least they aren't treating it as a 1:1 remake, like my original point was saying. It still starts the same way, though.

Yep. And according to the Wikipedia page, Matt Damon and Carl Reiner reprise their roles as Linus Caldwell and Saul Bloom (aka Lyman Zerga aka Simon Leopold aka Kensington Chap) from the first 3 movies. :)

I can't fathom how anyone unironically would say Ghostbusters 2 is worse than the shitfest that the new ghostbusters movie is, either you're insane or drank too much of the kool-aid, or were born way past the time it was relevant.

The new ghostbusters has no redeeming qualities, its an awful movie all around, and people like to deflect on how bad it is by saying "hurr you probably don't like it because it has wymin in it!"

Honestly I think you're leaning in way too hard on it. As a guy who has no emotional connection to the original films (didn't even see the original until the event 25th anniversary when they re released it in theaters), I thought the all girl Ghostbusters was just an average comedy. It had a few funny parts and the story was all right, nothing great but nothing horrifically awful.

What I thought it had in common with the first is that the funniest parts don't come from the writing or the story but from the comedians being themselves. Bill Murray isn't funny as Peter Venkman...he's funny as Bill Murray. Same goes for McCarthy and McKinnon.
