Yet the most amazing and disturbing thing is that the 405 is half shut down. Theres just nothing on one side of it, Ive never seen that before. And the traffic on the other side thats unrestricted? Its still moving faster than it normally does right now.

Its kind of creepy to see six lanes unused at 10 AM. And a few miles back, the 405 was almost empty on the other side. Not even at 3 AM does this happen.

The sky has actually been blue here. The wind has actually been blowing so strongly a majority of the smoke is over the ocean so unless you are close to the fire the sky is clear. There is a faint smell of smoke but not much.

I remember seeing gifs like that a few months ago. IIRC this is a common occurrence that's been happening over the last year, but I guess this time it's getting pretty close to the city.

I drove by some hills that had gray smoke rising from them and black ash everywhere. I think the fire department set a bunch of controlled blazes in case the fire gets near the part of the freeway I was on.
