I will say this though: I miss the days of buying a complete game and accccctually having to beat it/find it to unlock shit. Games used to have tons of unlockables, now it's, "ahhh yeah if you spend another $30 you can get the go fuck yourself pack".

We had EB, Gamestop and a place called Games 4 Less that sold games at like $4 less than most other retailers. Also, ToysRus used to be a monster of a place to get games and toys.

That game sounded awesome, mainly due to how awesome the TV series was at the time.

I imagined that it would be like Mega-man when you killed another Immortal.

I remember playing Tekken 3 like crazy to unlock everything. Extra characters, new cinematics, endings, 2nd endings in two cases, and Jin and Ling 3rd outfits.

Now, Tekken 7 has nothing to unlock.

i definitely miss cheat codes. remember how cool it was to play GTA 3 with the cheats, going around and causing senseless destruction to everything?

demos still exist sometimes, but i definitely miss them. i actually saw something suggesting that demos hurt game sales which is why many folks stopped doing them.

also miss manuals, but i do appreciate the in game tutorials we have nowadays that replaced them.

Nah, they actually gone out of the way to make the games extra grindy so people can 'buy' cheats. Like all those shortcut packs for battlefield games and buying in game currency on assassins creed games so you can unlock stuff faster.

Back in the days, you unlock skins and special weapons by completing the games. Completing certain challenges and beating hard mode n shit. Now, to get them, its $1.99 per skin.

Wait, it had to be 2004/2005 when I got Raw 2 since it came out 2003.

Anyway, I loved that it had features that other WWE games didn't at the time such as full apron interactivity (or did WMXIX have it?), different referees with different count speeds, moves capable of being done from positions that were not in the other games, interrupting entrances, season mode with a dozen of different choices of what you can do.

My main gripe was that the game could have been more polished. The move animations were underwhelming and felt like they had no impact, the grappling engine had so few moves available...I would get bored cycling through every move in my moveset in a match. The A.I. was also stupid, I remember that Battle Royals felt like they could never end since the A.I. kept breaking up pins.

It sucks that we never got a Raw 3.

I miss the days of each console having its own exclusive WWE games... of course some of them really sucked, but it was great having the variety.

I really loved RAW 2. It was horrible, but if you knew how to work the system it was hilarious and lots of fun. Dunno why we can't get a crazy season mode like that anymore. If I recall correctly almost without fail someone you were feuding with would do a run-in during your matches, but it was programmed wrong and they would beat the crap out of your opponent every time, lol. Plus you could do inter-gender stuff and everyone was basically equal so I had CAWs of all my friends in and it was just crazy stupid fun.

As to the overall topic... yeah, before GameStop took over we had Software Etc, EB, and Game Crazy, and I remember Sears having a pretty decent game section.

I miss EGM as well, was definitely my favorite of the mags that covered all the major consoles. I get Game Informer because its cheap through GameStop but it isn't the same.

I love it when PC games / game engines feature a console. It's not just useful for when glitches screw you over (I'm looking at you, Elder Scrolls games), but it can add longevity to a game by letting you do all sorts of things you wouldn't otherwise be able to.

Unreal, Quake and Source engines and their offshoots were usually good for this sort of thing. I'm not sure if Unreal 4.0 still has a console.

I miss cheats and demos, demos were a great way to see how a game was before buying it, now they just make you buy the game with no demos anymore. Cheats were a great way to have more fun with a game, I think only GTA, Saints Row, and maybe RDR2 will have cheats, but I am not sure anymore, since R* games have less and less cheats now. I mean compare GTA SA to GTA IV, HUGE drop in cheats.
