Should Sony remove this child abuse scene?

Sony's upcoming multi-million dollar budget game, "Detroit: Becoing Human" is causing uproar as the game has a scene depicts CHILD ABUSE and DOMESTIC VIOLENCE that was condemned by Conservative MP's in the United Kingdom and campaigners who want the scene REMOVED or have the game SHELVED altogether!!

A scene was released that shows a 10 y/o girl screaming as her father attacks her as many call the game "sick and repulsive"

They are urging Sony to remove the child abuse scene or withdraw it

Childline founder Esther Rantzen said "Violence against children is not entertainment. It's not a game. it's a real nightmare for thousands of children who have to live through these kinds of scenarios. The makers of this game should be thoroughly ashamed. I think it's perverse. Who thinks beating a child is entertainment?"

Andy Burrows of the NSPCC said "Any video game that trivializes or normalizes child abuse, neglect or domestic violence for entertainment is unacceptable"

But the director of the game, David Cage is defending it descrinbing it as "very strong and moving. If you really look int the game and understand the game is not about domestic abuse. It's a part of Kara's android story and she has a beautiful story. Hopefully you will be moved by what happens. He also made Heavy Rain for PS3"

The game is set in Detroit in the future that features lifelike androids that have become part of society.

Players take on the role of cyborg housekeeper Kara and can decide how the story unfolds by making choices. She works for Todd, an abusive father who orders her to clean the house and look after his daughter, Alice.

The scene that's causing uproar makes a decision when it comes to the child abuse games which people are crying foul over. Conservative MP, Damian Collins said it's completely wrong and wants the game BANNED. He says games like this will have perverts who GET OFF on these kinds of abuse and to trivialize a child being beaten is disgusting. If Sony does not remove the scene, the government could impose a ban on the game once the date comes closer to release

This isn't the first video game contrversy as GTA also caused uproar when players roam around cities killing civilians and stealing cars that has been criticized for gratutitious depictions of sex, violence and drugs.

The game is expected to be a hit once it releases..

Sony has declined to comment and it is not known yet on whether they will remove the scene..

Do you think Sony should remove this scene?

Video games will always be viewed as a "children's activity" until the older generations who view them as such are no longer in charge/in office.

I hope they don't edit it.

I didn't read all the story but I'll say any scene is allowed in media and should be providing it's relevant to the story and not just shoved in for shock value. These things happen so why should media shy away from it?

Not only that but it also will raise awareness much like when they cover rape, murder, illnesses and any other real life issues in soaps. The world and life itself isn't all rainbows and butterflies unfortunately.
