Really depends on the game. For rhythm games I'll often be too physically tired to keep going, but for others I'll go until the hype wears off.

I don't think I've been stuck "for days" since I was a kid. If I can't beat whatever it is in a couple attempts, I'm consulting the internet. If I'm still up shit creek, I probably just quit. The last games which have really kicked my ass were Demon's Souls and Bloodborne, but even then, I think I beat every boss in the same day I initially encountered them.
