The sequel is officially titled Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, and will you can get a look at the talented cast in the image above. The film will open one year from today on November 16, 2018, and features a returning cast that includes Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterson, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, Jude Law as a young Dumbledore, and Johnny Depp.

"At the end of the first film, the powerful Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald (Depp) was captured by MACUSA (Magical Congress of the United States of America), with the help of Newt Scamander (Redmayne). But, making good on his threat, Grindelwald escaped custody and has set about gathering followers, most unsuspecting of his true agenda: to raise pure-blood wizards up to rule over all non-magical beings."

"In an effort to thwart Grindelwalds plans, Albus Dumbledore (Law) enlists his former student Newt Scamander, who agrees to help, unaware of the dangers that lie ahead. Lines are drawn as love and loyalty are tested, even among the truest friends and family, in an increasingly divided wizarding world."

You know, in the first movie, the American wizards had a trial-to-death sentence policy that took about ten minutes, so it's odd that Grindelwald even had enough time to escape.

I'm really happy but laughing at the fact that Ezra Miller is back. Also I don't really like the title but eh, I still thought the first one was fun enough so I'm ready for it.

I get the feeling the title should not be Fantastic Beasts

The first film was a very average film, but if the story can take a more Potter-relevant turn, I think I will get more invested in it.

There are exceptions, but I dislike prequels in general. I'd rather see a movie set after Deathly Hollows.

Well no, I prefer good things to fanfiction.

I'd be happy with an unrelated Harry Potter-universe story, but a prequel that sets up the main story from the books? Eh.

I don't have a problem with prequels, and I thought Fantastic Beasts 1 was decent. I enjoyed my time with it and will watch the sequel. Hopefully it improves upon the first.

Prequels are a weird lot. Knowing what happens already, as well as not always feeling as important as the main source, can be a hindrance. If they can nail the stakes and the impact in the moment, it shouldn't matter as much what happens way down the line. I love Better Call Saul for this, as well as "Left Behind" from The Last of Us.

I enjoyed the first one a lot. Very fun movie. Definitely looking forward to this one tying in more to the original story.

I think the ending bait-and-switch was great in Fantastic Beasts 1, but until that point came, I was nonplussed by a lot of the film. I didn't think America was as interesting as the UK when it came to the magic scene - it just lacked a lot of the imaginative spark.
