People pitch a fit, then run out and buy the game anyway.

Of course, this doesnt apply to everyone. There are always people who stand by their convictions. But its safe to say that the majority of consumers are all bark and no bite.

Your words are largely meaningless. Actions carry weight. Your money is what matters to EA/Activision/(Fill-In-The-Blank).

If you want monetization practices like youre seeing in Battlefront II to end, or at least change toward something more palatable, stop buying these sorts of games. Dont pre-order games, but if you do pre-order, make sure its a game you know wont launch with this sort of in-game economy.

Stop saying youll never support loot crates, only to turn around during a sale or special event and buy them.

EA isnt evil. Theyre a business. Theyre only making money doing what the consumer will allow them to do. What theyll tolerate. If youve reached your breaking point, stand up for yourself.

The Xbox One is proof that money is all that counts. MS basically had a bizarro announcement for it that just told everybody the opposite of what would be popular. Major Nelson and friends were a bunch of arrogant pricks until they realized it wasnt just the usual vocal minority whining...

tbh, a lot of buyers aren't protestors so protests in general don't matter. Only a fraction of the total userbase will join in a complaint effort and that's never going to be enough to convince a company to make a drastic change. Otherwise, sure, people have a hard time boycotting things they like.

what?

Left 4 Dead players decided to boycott Left 4 Dead 2 because it was getting developed too early and would make them break their promise to keep supporting the first game with updates.
They even had a group being invited by the developers to make them change their mind.
