I mentioned this in the other topic about the underage strictening, but it seemed to be overshadowed.

A mod confirmed it on Discord the other day. If you're using an alt to post while your main is in purgatory or worse, the alt will be suspended too. And yes, this also means banned is banned, you aren't allowed to come back on a new account anymore.

They confirmed that warned does not get treated the same way; that alts are still fine to use as long as your main isn't purg'd or worse; and that using an alt to access CE if your main has lost access is fine subject to the previous note.

I would've agreed back when the site banned people on a hair trigger, but these days bans are far harder to get for the most part. Even taking the questionable moderation practices at times into account, you're far more likely to just get warned or purg'd. Given that, it's not so much of a problem.

I'd presume it doesn't apply retroactively (outside of a few notorious users like Tails). Otherwise they'd have to ban like half of CE.

Purgatories stay on your mod history for a year nowdays, so I'd assume (if not outright permanent) a ban counts against you for at least that long.

Yeah but like I said I don't know how they intend to enforce it. When I was banned I got repeatedly put on Read-Only until 30 days was up but I have a static IP, anyone with a dynamic one can come back as soon as they want.

It's not retroactive.

It was briefly mentioned in the announcement, but not really advertised. Largely seems pretty good, though. Some troll gets suspended, hops on an alt to troll again, just gets suspended again.
Not sure how I feel about "ban evasion." But, the point is basically that a ban is saying, "We really don't want you here."

It's not retroactive. Anyone currently able to post, even if they have past bans can continue to do so as long as they follow the rules.

By promoting consistency in moderation and addressing specific issues such as hornyposting, ban/purg evasion, and trolling we aim to create a more welcoming and inclusive space for all users.
But yeah this was technically announced with the other changes. Though for obvious reasons it went under the radar and very few people actually knew this was a new change. The worst people know how to get around this system, but those are also the kind of people who have gimmicks obvious enough to spot them or can't help but out themselves. They're doing it for the attention in the first place, so it's not fun for them if nobody knows who they are.
