I don't think any individual plot point is particularly bad, though I could be convinced otherwise. It's the dialogue and how they reach each plot point that make it trash.
  • Arya killing Night King, perfectly fine. There's even a hint of foreshadowing. Just needed the war to be better. Could be a whole season or more.
  • Bran becomes king, fine. Just the logic and dialogue behind it sucks.
  • Jaime going back to Cersei. Honestly, something that probably should happen. Just really needs to address how much they've changed since season 1.
  • Dany going crazy, already hinted long before. Just way too rushed in season 8.
Actual worst parts of season 8 might be making Tyrion stupider than season 1 Ned. A big part of Ned's character was to show that good intentions and lawful behavior aren't always going to lead to the best outcomes; season 8 Tyrion goes against his whole character (because the writing is bad) to forget that lesson.

There's an easy solution to that

what, make it bright?

there was plenty of fire in the episode to provide lighting

Like in relation to Jamie, that scene where Tyrion is guessing things about the others and when he guesses that Brienne is a virgin, she acts embarrassed like she's a teenage boy in an American Pie movie. She's a highborne woman, she's supposed to be a virgin.

Cringiest scene. The only good thing in that episode was the Florence + the Machine Jenny of Oldstones song.

unironically yes. I'm talking about the battle. Like, I get the vibe they were going for, but you gotta make some concessions so the audience can actually see what's going on.

Now, the battle itself, that's one of the worst bits of season 8. Like holy shit, it's like the battle plans were drawn up by a 12 year old playing Rome: Total War for the first time.

Fucking hell, I'm the furthest thing from an expert on medieval combat but even I could tell they made literally every wrong tactical call there. You have seasoned commanders and tactician's there, and you know what the enemy is capable of.

Peter Jackson managed a battle in a fantasy setting entirely at night with perfect visibility in 2002, they could have figured it out

Also the way that basically every character in that battle should have died on like 4 different occasions but they all survived except two was dumb as hell

There were some other issues at the time, but I think the crack that really cascaded the entire thing into ruin was Littlefinger giving Sansa to the Boltons. That misses the entire point of both characters.

I think the biggest problem was that they went with shorter seasons and some things felt rushed. Had they stayed with 10 episode seasons, it would have saved those final 2

The speed in which they rushed everything. Location didn't matter and everything happened so fast it is like no one had time to think.

Personally I think that entire mission to get the wight to show Cersei is fucking stupid idiotic moronic idiocy.

oh yeah their tactics were dumb as fuck. you have walls, why are you letting half your army die outside of them?

I don't think they should have made it brighter though. the 'night' part is like all they got right about the 'long night'.

It was basically impossible to tell what was going on in The Battle of the Bastards too but people loved that episode and I hardly ever see complaints about it.

Tbh one of the most memorable moments of the whole 8 seasons was watching the entire dothraki army charge into the undead horde and just immediately get demolished. My jaw was on the floor during that. And then funnier, these mofos were planning this charge before the red woman ignited their blades Even tho it was well established regular weapons wouldn't do anything.

Seeing them all respawn in big enough numbers to still be able to storm King's Landing sure was a sight to behold.

You know one example of absolutely lazy-as-fuck writing that annoyed me but no one else seems to mention? Daenerys' attack on the supply chain. Now it was a fantastic scene, extremely cathartic to see her absolutely wreck house on a dragon after seasons and seasons of promising it, but it was lazy as fuck. Why?

Well, they wanted to have their scene of her doing that, but they also wanted Cersei to have the gold she needed to buy the Golden Company. I don't know why, Daenerys later obliterates them with zero effort, but they wanted Cersei to have them. So at the start of the scene, Jamie mentions that they sent the gold - the most important resource they're carrying - ahead of the main army convoy that's supposed to be protecting it. That makes no real sense, but it lets them have their cake and eat it too.

That show officially died for me when Asha spent the end of an episode hyping up how the Ironborn are 1:10 in value as fighters compared to Westerosi, how they were going to save Theon, kill anybody who gets in their way and blah blah blah, then the start of the next episode is them running away, screaming and shitting their britches, because of a shirtless Ramsey and like 4 dogs.

That was my breaking point.

From what I heard about the last season, glad I got out when I did.

That bothered me but not as much because Ive always understood the Ironborn to be mostly hype. But I agree, Ramsay running shirtless into a fight in very close quarters against armored opponents and not being immediately torn to shreds was very, very stupid.

But that's the thing, it was just Ramsey and dogs.

Like, maybe the Ironborn overhype themselves compared to Westerosi men, but they primarily ran away from dogs as Ramsey was just standing there holding 2 more, iirc. I seem to recall the scene when they enter the cell area being Ramsey just standing there, holding 2 dogs, 2 dogs running at the Ironborn, and then the next scene is them running in terror through the woods.

Like, wtf lol

Just how much of an anticlimax Bran's arc was.

Eight years of him developing superpowers, becoming nigh omniscient and he's even shown to be able to influence the past. So many characters died to protect him. Jojen, Summer, Hodor, Three-Eyed Raven and the children of the forest, Theon.

Yet the biggest impact his powers had on the overarching story was revealing Jon's parentage... which ultimately didn't matter and only contributed to Dany going mad.

People were theorizing he would warg into a dragon or even into the Night King, whatever way his massive powers could make a difference in either of the big battles. But he was just sitting and watching.

Being able to manipulate and craft thousands of weapons on that time frame in a tiny workshop seems unlikely.

Though I do remember the dothraki had standard steel which...lol
