why not just retire immediately and live a life of luxury

I get depressed when not working and I actually like my career yet money is my only motivation to work. Weird mindset I know but it is what it is.

Kinda off topic, but even if I had $50 biillion, I would still "work", just at a complete "fuck you" job.

For me, as a sports enthusiast, I'd latch on with some memorabilia company, and just be the guy that sits next to the athletes at a signing and tells them the proper marker to use when signing an item.

It'll still give me the motivation to get out of bed every day, but I'd also be doing something that would fulfill a childhood fantasy of meeting a ton of famous athletes.

See I wouldn't have motivation. I'd be calling in a lot cause I just wasn't feeling it that day. I'd need to be able to convince my job to only let me work like 2 days a week and that's not flying in this career as short staffed as it is.

That's why I said I'd transition to one of those "if you're doing something you love, you never work a day in your life" kind of jobs. Zero chance I'd continine with the number-crunching accounting job I currently have.

As a sports fan and memorabilia collector, meeting an interacting with celebrities and famous athletes 3-4 times a week for a few hours at at time and watching them/helping them sign memorabilia, isn't something I think I'd ever get tired of.

My job was 12.25 hours a day and usually 6 days a week. Love it or not the burnout was real. The job was serious so it was stressful at times. Fucking up bad enough at that job could lead to being arrested for criminal negligence

Yeah. With F-U money, quitting a job like that would be the first thing I'd do.

You'd just have to ask yourself "If I didn't have to worry about money, but I still had to work 20 hours a week, what would I want my job to be?"

Same job. Only job I ever truly loved. Why? Because I was damn good at it. Gave me pride. There are people alive today because I did my job.

I only quit because between the overtime and my captain being a piece of shit the stress lead to drinking which led to alcoholism which then was starting to affect me at work.

I don't think you're understanding what I'm asking. Basically look at your hobbies. Something that makes you happy. Is it gaming? Then get a job as a game tester/reviewer. Is it comics? Latch on with a company that runs conventions and just help them with set-up.

If you have complete F-U money, get the kind of job that is basically a hobby that still pays you. Something you wouldn't dread going to.

I like gaming but I'd hate doing it as a job. I'd be being made to do things In a way I don't normally play a game or even play games I have no interest in.

I knew a guy who made model cars and he was damn good at it. I asked if he ever thought about making them for people so they could like have a replica model of their own car or something and he said no. The moment it becomes a job I will lose my passion for it. And it boiled down to he wanted to do what he wanted to do with it not be told what to do with it.

Like I said I liked the job I had because it felt meaningful which in turn made me feel proud

A perfect body with the bonus of having knowledge and skills beats any amount of money in my opinion. Even if it was infinite money, I would still pick the perfect body.
There are things that money can't get, things that money can't achieve. There are things that money can't fix.

There is nothing insane in not choosing money.

Even while not owning any games in the franchise anymore, Dead or Alive impressed me the most on how the different fighting styles were incorporated. My favorite two characters to see matched up were Kokoro and Lei Fang. When I see the words 'Baji Quan' I immediately think of:

I can imagine for gaming having fast reflex and being fast at pressing the controller would be a huge advantage. Basically you would have the stamina, strength and speed.

Give me the skills and that perfect body. That much money is stupidly excessive. Being the ultimate fighter with the perfect body would be worth more to me. Healthy, in shape and all of my various ailments all cleared up with the skills to get richer than I would ever need from fighting is by far the better choice.

I hard disagree unless it literally saves you from an incurable and terminal disease that is ravaging your body. You can do so much with 50 billion. Learn martial arts at a tiny fraction of the price. Have your friends and family live comfortably. Do things you've always wanted to do including traveling. Give away money to research and help the poor. Literally save thousands of lives vs 1. Hell, build a suit or have 24/7 body guards.

You don't need a "perfect" body for martial arts. Basic self defense is important but you don't need to be winning tournaments. Martial arts is a last minute resort in an actual street fight anyway.

With 50 billion, I could hire dozens of ex special forces soldiers to protect me, and do my bidding. No need to get my hands dirty.

With 50 billion handed to me, I think I could find the free time to become a skilled martial artist on my own.

Fighting skills just for the perfect body aspect. 50 billion dollars isn't going to help me

Let's be real how many people are really gonna do good things with 50 bill. Yeah not many. Several million and a perfect body would be plenty for most people.

I'd like to do good with money but I wouldn't even know where to begin because I don't trust charities to not pocket the bulk of donations.

I feel like I could and would do a huge amount of good with that kind of money.

As for not trusting charities, you can vet them more thoroughly or even create your own with that kind of cash.

You can also do things like open your own schools, food banks, etc.

Establishing grants or endowments instead of direct donation.

Grant funds can be earmarked for very specific purposes, misappropriation of those funds can cost a nonprofit their nonprofit status.

With 50 billion you'd be able to enforce that.

Ill take the skills. Though Id rather itd be whatever skill you choose vs the money. So many other things Id rather be skilled at than fighting.

I wouldnt need to fight if I had $50 billion, and I damn sure wouldnt reach that amount of wealth by being the best fighter on earth.

He got into a 3v1 fight in the parking lot of a bar, trying to defend his wife. One guy pulls out a knife, Nic puts it away in a place the guy doesn't want.

Judge sentences him because he's a trained soldier and a weapon and thus held to a higher standard.
