I played through 3 recently, the story was alright but the minigames/side content wernt too good in that one and neither was the combat, so I took someones suggestion and just beelined the story

Is that also the case with Yakuza 4?

Yakuza 4 is a massive step up from 3, and one of the better entries due to Akiyama. Gameplay is a lot more refined too.

It sadly does have the worst final boss in the entire series which soured me quite a bit on it.

I know 3 is usually not very highly thought of but I actually enjoyed 3 more than 4. Got platinum on both. I loved the mini games and side content in 3. Highly enjoyed the characters and liked the orphanage aspect of it.

I preferred 3 over 4 also becsuse I like being Kiryu and not 4 different characters. I didnt hate it by any means and still had a blast with it but I liked it better when I was Kiryu.

Every person is different though.

4 has kind of a terrible story, but it also gives us Akiyama and Saejima

i dont mind playing as other characters tbh. i havent been spoiled much of the future story other than haruka has a kid and pretty much nobody dies, and kiryu sticks around.
my first game was yakuza 0 and i loved the majima half of the game as well

TC not ready for the goat Super Chunk

I recently grabbed all the Yakuza games and played through 0, which was pretty cool, but like...I haven't really played through many single player type shits in like a decade or so, if you exclude the Need for Speed franchise, at least.

It was cool, but, I really don't have much interest in playing another one of these games, where I spend 60 hours just wishing it was a fuckin movie instead of a game.
