Never a console. Just a few games. Would have considered it for a PS2 way back when but nothing else really was a day 1 want for me.

Never a handheld, sadly. I did win a Smash 4 tournament and was one of the first people in the states to get Omega Ruby though, so that's cool.

Buying consoles at launch is a terrible waste of time. There's never any good games for like a year.

Nope, only went to the midnight release for CoD Black Ops because a friend of mine didn't want to stand in line by himself.

Halo 3 & Reach & Gears of War 2 I think

MLB The Show (there was 5 or 6 that had special midnight releases).

Just for games, but I did go to a pre-release tour for the Switch in Manhattan. Didn't even have much interest in buying a Switch until a few months after release.

Not consoles but a couple games.

Thing had 80GB HDD, four USB ports and PS2 BC. And it came with my most highly anticipated game ever. Hell yeah I wanted one.

Of course, the PS2 BC crapped out on tons of games and the whole thing YLOD'd on me, but still.

I went to the midnight release for Halo 3. That was it though.

Yes when I was younger. It was fun hanging out and chatting with people outside about the game. These days if I want something at midnight I just download it.

I slept out at a CompUSA parking lot for a PS2 on launch day! There was a radio station covering people waiting all night at a Best Buy a few blocks away, but I intentionally chose a CompUSA because it would be less obvious/crowded.

The only midnight releases I went to were the Harry Potter books at Books-a-Million. Shit was tight.

I had the XBOX 360 pre-ordered well in advance so I just rolled in the next day and picked it up. That is the only console I ever got at launch.

Gta 4, mass effect 3 and world of warcraft: wrath of the lich king.

They weren't really worth it. I ended out going to bed once I got home and the stores here didn't really anything cool to make it an event or anything :(

I remember going to the release of Halo 2. My older brother was psyched, so i went with him. I ended up hanging out with some moms that were taking their kids. We got drunk at the Harry Buffalo across the parking lot.

Nope. Last midnight release I went to was for music CDs back in the 90s lol

I remember hanging out with my older brother and his friends when picking up the dreamcast from walmart at midnight. Just sitting on the floor chillin while talking with the dude that was working at the electronics department about it.

To be honest, the dreamcast was the only single console or portable I can remember anyone in my family getting at launch. Every single console we had growing up has at least been out for a month or so before we got it. My bro's NES was still near it's launch since we had the one that came with a solo super mario bros cart. My SNES was also a few weeks after it first dropped. (I got the one that came with super mario world and 2 controllers). All the other consoles and portables was like, at least a year....genesis with sonic 2, I had a gameboy for christmas in 89 but I think they was all coming with tetris at that point, etc.

The playstation 5 was the very first console I bought myself on launch day. Even then I had to wait on fedex since it was being shipped via walmart (couldn't make a in-store pre-order because of the stupid situation where wal-mart jumped the gun on pre-orders and all other retailers quickly followed).

Been to plenty video game midnight launches though, with the recent one being the spider-man 2+super mario wonder midnight release.

I'd say the most fun video game midnight release me and my bro went to was for gears of war 3's. Just a ton of gears fans talking about how much we liked the story, some of us actually having read those gears of war novels and how gears of war 3 was finishing up the plot. (gears 4 and 5 aint a thing dammit). Most importantly, the gears of war 3's multiplayer was stupid good thanks to the beta so a lot of us talking about how much we can't wait to hop online for some king of the hill. Gamestop also had 2 xbox 360s set-up and had a mini gears of war 2 tournament going. (Sucked it was 2 unpatched versions of gears 2, because it felt mad weird/booty butt cheeks). Brother was like, the only dude who bought that big-ass lancer figure that was made for the game so everyone in the store talking about they jealous they didn't get one lol. It was a cool time though.

Sat outside Target with a lot of other people for the release of the Wii. It was really cold that night.

Was at GameStop for the midnight release of the Switch/BotW, and again for TotK.

There were other games I went for midnight releases of but can't remember other than some Pokemon games and possibly one of the Smash games.

Nope. Did for a game once (GTAV), only cause my dad was going so I tagged along.

Mainly just the big releases like Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo Reach, GTA IV, and probably a few I'm forgetting. Probably COD too.

Mass Effect 3 and never again after that.
