Ok um... why does this movie's animation look... weird? It looks like that netflix show the dragon prince, you know the show that's like 5 frames per second? The quality of animation looks... not like Disney's previous movies the past 10 years.

From what I understand, the animation was inspired by Spider-verse.

It came and went because it's not very good and even bombed at the box office. Wish is that movie that has nothing going for it. The musical numbers aren't very good (just listen to them on youtube for yourself, it's like they try to stuff soo much lyrics into one note and comes off awkward), the morals it preaches is lazily done, the villain (while starts off interesting) just devolves into a one dimensional villain without the charisma from previous Disney villains, the art style and colors muddy's too much with the background making it look bland, and it's literal "homages" the movie. For a 100th year celebration movie, it went out with a wimper.

they went with an alternate animation style like Spider-Verse and a couple of others have done. it's supposed to be like a paintbrush, watercolor style.

That is what confuses me. How does a studio like Disney decide on something like Wish for their 100th anniversary? I expected something groundbreaking. Makes me wonder if Nintendo will disappoint on Mario's 100th birthday. Though I will probably never find out as I don't expect to live that long. I always thought a company would take their 100th anniversary very seriously

It's an appropriate title since it's basically a Disney movie ordered from Wish.

Because it's their 100 year joint, they wanted to have a homage to 2D animation in the 3D animated movie. They failed, so it looks like shit as a result. Real kicker is that apparently it was originally going to be full 2D, but some nitwit convinced everyone that 2D is too limiting for characterization.

Well maybe they will do a better job for their 200th anniversary

This truly is one of the movies ever made. The animation is definitely great though, and the voice acting is perfectly fine.

The movie Just hit Disney plus today. I plan on watching it sometime this week.

Sure, its not amazing like an Aladdin or a Tangled. But its not a bad movie at all. Had some good songs, a neat story, and a really cool villain.

IIRC the marketing for this movie suffered hard from the strikes last year so no one even really knew it was out

Ok I finally watched this pitch meeting and now I finally understand the jokes that this movie was written by AI back when the movie came out

it was just ok. The singing wasn't good and the overall story felt loosely strung together. The artstyle was beautiful but the character designs just weren't interesting. Some of the animation seemed a little low quality. I did love all the referencing. The movie felt like a PBS version of Shrek.

I initially rolled my eyes at the thought of a Disney Universe, but I think it would have been better had they did something similar to the movie "Big Fish". Could've been basically the same story but just someone using it as reference for the early Disney stories. Seems like they kind of had this idea with the grandfathers wish.

Only two good songs in the movie were the one Asha and Magnifico have at the start and then Magnificos ranting one

The rest were justkinda really bad. Like the one where Ashas friends sing about fighting the king was genuinely awful

Suddenly it makes sense why they said that. They may as well have not made a movie. It's funny, Pixar's 10 year anniversary movie was a bad or low-tier movie too. Some cool parallels there.

Alright so Ive watched it like ten more times now because my daughter loves it. Its grown on me quite a bit.

Disney Once Upon a Studio short should've been the movie imo. That short alone does a better job celebrating 100 years of Disney then that wet fart movie "Wish" was.

It feels like it was made by committee rather then by anyone with talent. Like everything about it was chosen by some executive who knows what worked in other movies and just told the writers and animators to do that again.

The movie was probably mostly if not completely done by the time the strikes even started.

Yeah it reminds me of those little shorts they'd play at Disneyland and honestly that should have been the extent of it especially length wise, not a full blown 1+ hour feature presentation

Welcome To Rosas, At All Costs, and This Is The Thanks I Get are constantly stuck in my head now. The rest are mostly forgettable.

But they're not anywhere near as catchy as stuff from Encanto, Moana, etc. Frozen really only had Let It Go.
