It is entirely possible - and is the case more often than not - for a war to be bad guys against even worse guys; and the US committed some pretty horrific acts against civilians in the course of that war so they cannot be considered good guys, only "not-nearly-as-bad guys". For that matter, the US didn't intervene because of an altruistic goal of stopping the evil Nazis; they did so only because the Nazis became a direct threat to them. Russia-Ukraine is the only conflict that comes to mind with a clear good guy (Ukraine). I'm sure there are others, but that's the only one to immediately come to mind. --- Do, or do not.
