Since they can't afford to live in a home, Sedona is a pretty upscale area with gorgeous views about halfway between Phoenix and the Grand Canyon, their city council voted to allow a safe parking area where people can sleep, that also provides a bathroom and showers.

Pretty fucking insane to think that people can work full time, but have to sleep in their cars. Late stage capitalism at its finest.

While I feel bad for the workers in this situation, calling this late stage capitalism is a bit of a stretch. Sedona has always been expensive long before the housing crisis.

Workers not being able to afford housing there isn't surprising, it's the same in other upscale communities like Paradise Valley and Fountain Hills, the difference of course being that Sedona is somewhat remote while the aforementioned two are not.

And you'll see that same town fight to stop pro housing laws that will increase the housing supply of the city

Well yeah, lower income people not being able to afford to live there is a feature, not a bug, to its wealthy residents.

It's a retirement community. The Villages in Florida has a similar issue. They built all this 55+ housing for the retirees but nothing for the workers that maintain the place and work at restaurants etc... and now are scrambling to build lower income housing, schools, etc.. to draw them back.
