That poster is privileged, sure.

But they don't have to bite their tongue and be someone else's pincushion simply for having the same skin color as the villains who orchestrated social inequality in our hemisphere. "I know you're not personally responsible, but shut up and let me blame you," is never a good argument

Where is this individual being blamed for anything? White people who dont bother to make efforts to help push back against systemic racism ARE at fault. Everyone that doesnt apply to? They arent getting blamed for shit. You know that evil virtue signaling everyone is always yelling about? The people doing that (I.e being allies) are the ones not getting blamed.

attributing social inequality to some nebulous and specific villains is part of the problem. The problem is white people who continue to perpetuate the systemic inequality. If that doesnt apply to you, you arent part of the problem and you dont need to fucking whine about the ones who are being called out.

I was also pretty healthy in my approach to her being indian, making sure not to completey ignore it and risk coming across as "I don't see colour" or talk about it too much and risk fetishising her(I find indian women beautiful so this was a genuine concern lol)

And it was more about realising she didn't have to/want to give me the same respect.

Not shocked people in this topic are actually trying to justify or defend this idiot racist.
Double standards are the stock in trade of CE.
Only double standards I see are people ho hum on racism until it's a random woke nobody they want to blame for the ruining of video games.

If people weren't crying over minorities in their video games and looking for vindication, this stupid woman would just be lost in the sea of racism on Twitter that people generally say to ignore. Like, it's fine that she got found out and got fired, but there was a less than honest reason why we even know her name.

She's a miserable person and I agree she's racist. You really should not (in ANY case) use your past experiences with an individual from any given race as an excuse to hate the entire race. Plus, the fuck with being upset at interracial couples?

That being said, who the fuck cares? She got fired (to my knowledge). At the end of the day, she was one of the many consultants at SBI and is a small game dev. She's not gonna somehow bring about the genocide of white people. She's racist and should be forgotten, but this is, ultimately, a nothing burger.

Honestly though, 3rd wave feminism really was focused on the liberation of upper class white women. It lost its intersectionality somewhere along the way, going so far as to even exclude or actively harm women of color. Speaking specifically about the US here, no idea how it affected other nations.

I just hate this whole situation.

According to her LinkedIn profile, she was a narrative design intern at Sweet Baby Inc, from October 2022 to May 2023. So not like she would have had much impact on any games they consulted on.

And no idea if she's actually been fired. Her current company is Cliffhanger games, which is a new studio under EA games.

Oh, so you have zero idea what youre talking about, got it.

Think of it this way. Gravity exists. We all agree on that, right? Now, weve all decided we dont want to be stuck on the ground. Everyone else has said well we have to push up then, use our muscles to jump, build ladders and climb them, build planes and fly.

and then youre over here going why are you guys doing all that? Just lay on the ground and itll work itself out.

White supremacy is built into our institutions. Racism is systemic. You have to actively work to counter-act it, or things return to the default. You are advocating for not actively working to counter-act it, calling that action racism. That means you are advocating for a return to the actually racist default. We can only hope youre just ignorant, and not doing it on purpose.

I thought the point of the article was that dei is unfair/racist/bigoted, because when they looked at the applications based on merit (experience/scores/etc) even more men were hired... so the arguments that women or poc are being discriminated against because they are a woman, and everyone knows they could do the job at least as well as a man aren't lining up.

When they couldn't choose based on gender or skin color, it showed that hiring practices were being screwed and the best applicants were not getting the positions.

Thank you for once again making it clear you didnt bother to read anything but what confirmed your biases.

You mean to tell me that men end up with more impressive resumes (the only way they could be hiring without knowing gender) thanks to the pervasive bias towards men in hiring and promoting, and when you remove DEI they get hired more because of that? Proving that not having DEI practices leads to an imbalance in hiring? The exact thing that was being said and that the poster posted the article to disprove? Huh. Wild.

wait, no you just read it as men must be better than women at things because you didnt bother to think for two seconds, didnt you.

I can totally understand why he posted the article. Because he read it incorrectly. I truly dont understand what point you are trying to make. You seem to think its some intentional misunderstanding. In reality, you arent making any goddamn sense.

one attempt at a DEI measure not working doesnt mean DEI is useless, and in this case if it proved anything, it proves that it is. Given that is the case, what is your point? That you can see why they might have posted it, incorrectly?
