Asylum for sure. It was way better as a Batmans one night in Hell game than an open world just be Batman game.

City > Asylum > Knight. I like the more open world aspect of City even if Asylum is better in many ways. Knight had some improvements and some steps back, but was still not as good as the previous two.

Never played Origins.

Huh, I was just playing Arkham Asylum and contemplated on making a topic about it and I see this topic. Anywho, I give the slight edge to City by a hair. Asylum is phenomenal too though.

I'm actually playing Asylum for the first time at the moment.

I'd played Origins on the Wii U and Blackgate on the 3DS, but have never actually played the three "real" ones until now.

Arkham Knight is still the best looking game Ive played. If were excluding graphics from consideration then Id probably give it to City, since it has a better story than Knight.

City if you want a more open world type experience, Asylum if you want a more direct point to point experience.

AC is so perfectly balanced in all its concepts WB/Rocksteady basically copied that template for the next two games, except added worse elements to that formula.

They only made Asylum, City, and Knight. Origins was a different company. That's why Origins felt like a DLC to City.

City > Asylum > Origins > Knight >>>>>>>>>> Kill the Justice League

Arkham City. Perfect balance of Freedom, Predator Missions, and Combat. Not sure if it is technically Open World or not, but the fact you can get almost anywhere in a minute or 2 is how Open World should be done if it is.

I would give Arkham Asylum 2nd place. Only thing it is missing is the freedom City had. It also had arguably the best Predator battles of the series. Did have the least fluid controls of the 4 however, as they were still being perfected.

Origins is next. Had arguably the best boss fights. Had some glitches though. I remember if you quick travelled to a certain spot, you would always be punched by someone before you could do anything. Also didn't like the progression of achievements. Hope you get the most out of predator missions!

Arkham Knight was okay. Didn't really like the Batmobile all that much. The developers outright lying about the Arkham Knight not being Jason Todd and the PC version being horribly broken on release (although it got fixed) drags it down a lot.

Although not a Batman game, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is set in the same universe and is officially a spinoff, so I'll mention it, although only to bash it... The fact the game outright retcons the deaths of Captain Boomerang and King Shark and makes the Arkham Deadshot a Earth 2 version so that the playable Deadshot can look like Will Smith already shows the game has no respect for the source material when 2 of the 4 primary members should be dead and another isn't the same as the one we are used to fighting. Being a Looter Shooter that is using the "games as a service model" is also terrible, as is how the game treats all of the Justice League members besides Wonder Woman I guess who still died easier than she should have. Batman was treated particularly bad though. There is no way Arkham Batman + Fear Gas + Allowed to Kill would lose to these wannabes, particularly when further augmented by Brainiac. The fact his final boss fight is ultimately reduced to a big thing that doesn't move that you shoot is just terrible. What Harley Quinn says before killing him makes me want to vomit, particularly the part about Batman causing "emotional damage" when that is all she herself has ever caused prior to the game. There is more to be sad about how disrespectful the game is, particularly toward Arkham Batman, but I don't want to talk about it any longer.

If Arkham Asylum had the more fluid controls the later games had, it would be that one for sure. The whole thing just works so much better constrained to a confined area than a big open world.

Arkham Origins did a really good job of expanding that same vibe to the whole city which didn't really work in Arkham City. As someone said above, the whole "one night in hell" vibe.

But in terms of the whole thing, City is probably the best one. It feels out of place taking up the whole city (why is there a prison taking up all of downtown?) but is the best as like, a general Batman story. It is the best whole package, even though there are things in the other games I think are done better than City does.

I like Knight the best. Arkham City has better outfits and boss fights but that's about it. People complain about the batmobile sections but I don't mind them because I love racing games.

I know. Arkham Knight was the same game too, just developed in UE4 and with batmobile shoehorned in.

City for sure, but they're all great games.

Asylum nailed the atmosphere and story but City just did everything else so much better. Tons more gameplay features, tons more side content, tons more normal content, better intro, better plot twist, etc.

Origins was pretty much more of the same, which isn't a bad thing (they actually exceeded my expectations since they were honest from the start that it was just a quick n dirty), but it lost some of the charm in ways that are hard to put a finger on. Still, it was a good game and had definitely the best Joker.

Knight, well, I liked a lot about it but the Batmobile was way too much. I loved driving it. It was just the Batmopuzzles and batmoplatforming and batmoshooter stuff that was a bad idea to begin with and got tiring in addition.

I like Asylum the best. The more streamlined story and the joker was just awesome in this one. I remember originally not wanting to play it because Im not really into Batman but I played the demo and was hooked. Loved the game and series.

The whole series is great. I just prefer Asylum a little bit more. Knight gets the least praise on gamefaqs but I thought it was damn good. Origins is a damn good game too even though its not Rocksteady. Its got the best boss fights to me.

I played these on PlayStation and got platinum trophy on Asylum, City, and Knight. Played the hell out of these games. Loved the challenges.
