It's the same thing they did with RE4R and DMC5, it's kind of lame but ultimately not a big deal as everything is available in game.

The performance issues are the bigger problem I'd say.

What were you expecting?

It's not. Same system as the first game.

They're selling you an -extra- map marker on top of the one/two you get normally

Nope, fast travel is in the base game. You set Portcrystals around the world wherever you want and use consumeable buyable in game farmable Ferrystones to teleport to the Portcrystals

DD2 even added an extra form of fast travel DD1 didnt have in the form of ox carts between cities and other major settlements

Yes. Enigma is allegedly for keeping people from modifying the game, which itself doesn't actually stop people. Denuvo is the crappy anti-piracy software that requires you to go online and is a performance hog.

Like Enigma is so useless the mods I had installed for Battle Network still worked.

Interesting. Hadn't realized that Enigma wasn't just another anti-piracy that sucked (I'd heard it dumped performance the same as Denuvo, but nothing else and I'd never had a reason to look it up beyond that).

The microtransactions are dumb, but what really perplexes me about this game is that they went through all the trouble of making such an involved character creator, but then limited you to only one save file. Like, you apparently can't even make a new one without going through some kind of crazy ritual involving deleting certain files manually. What an utterly mystifying decision.

I don't know how the pawn system works, but why not just limit it to the ones you used on your most recent character? That seems like it would accomplish the same thing.

Isn't that also microtransaction related? I thought I read you can pay for another character slot or something.

No. The extent of misinformation the game's been hit with is wild - All the microtransaction stuff is things you will have hundreds of (aside from the portcrystal and music pack) within a couple hours.

Best guess as to the save file is it's because of how Pawns work. They're working on it per the last update

Oh yeah it was for modifying your characters appearance, not a new character.

I played Dark Arisen and that had NG+ at least so there's that.

Say what you want about paying for fast travel. But a developer says he doesnt like this feature in games and then makes it way less appealing to do in his game

"fast travel microtransaction" and it's...literally the same system as the first game with a baffling "you can buy this once I guess" option of putting another destination on the list.

They even added conventional fast travel with carts.

None of which actually detracts from the interview point of "the journey between fast travel locations should be interesting enough that fast travel is unappealing"

The original thing was how you get one save that you allegedly can't even erase completely and start from scratch without delving into the system files, then someone used Zelda as an example of that for some reason even though you can absolutely erase your save and start from nothing by picking New Game on the title screen.

Idk why people are getting pissed at completely harmless and worthless MTX and in a single player game no less.

Just goes to how brainwashed people are to hate anything involving them. Never mind the players who never played or have given two fucks about the series until today but cant help but join the hate wagon. Bonus pts to the people who have no idea how fast travel works in this game.

I can understand being pissed about microtransactions.

Playing them up and starting misinformation campaigns about them is a step too far, though. It sucks that they're included, but they aren't affecting the gameplay at all. They're like...so ineffectual that the only real interpretation is "some C-suite guy says monetize so we did the literal least we could get away with"

if the game didn't have performance issues nobody would've cared. Hope those get fixed all the same

Only the auto saves. You get to keep the manual saves. There's even a way to glitch in an unbreakable master sword in totk by starting a new game and then loading an old save.
