Recruited a pawn in the rift (along with Alucard's) that popped up a tutorial about Dragonsplague. Apparently that's the only super clear sign you get from the game that you're gonna have problems in a few days and wake up to a dead village if you rested in one and it happens then

I dismissed that same pawn while still in the rift so hopefully it didn't infect my pawn and his >_>

It's OK. IMO has gone a little too hard on the "wait a few days" type of quests, splitting strider into thief/archer kinda sucks especially with no advanced versions of either, some minor design choices that make me think "man I miss X from DD1..."
Not bad so far but not perfect.

It isnt like game of a generation or even game of the year but it is still amazing. The sheer volume of content alone makes it worth 70 dollars.

Just tell your pawns to wait before you do anything remotely dangerous near water or high cliffs. Definitely frequently make use of the commands.

Tentatively yes, the game is still pretty fun to play; exploring (especially at night) and plot are interesting. Keep in mind I'm somewhat curmudgeonly and love MT Framework era Capcom, if you've played+enjoyed any of the RE Engine games then I think this would be mindblowing.
I'm sincerely hoping they do gradual updates like the recent MH games and put extra vocations in, would go from tentative yes to resounding yes if so.

T'was the last time I rested at an Inn, yeah. She's 13 now.

I been using her too for healing. Tho she was one of the pawns that died last night when I got attacked by Golem + skeletons. I couldn't save her dude there was too much going on. So many explosions!!!

This dragons plague thing is gonna make me nervous lol. It's the kinda thing where I feel like I'll easily overlook as I go deep into my adventure

Apparently there's a few ways to scout it

1. They don't follow your orders
2. Their eyes start glowing red
3. During idle, they start holding their head as if they have a migraine or something

Yeet them into the brine just in case.

Thanks for the info. Just remembered that they died recently and got sent to the rift so should be ok for now

are the pawn's eyes red? does it follow your commands?

also, plague doctor tips from the dogma 2 board:

always check your pawns before resting in towns
if it's a rented pawn, dismiss it ASAP so it doesn't spread to your party
if it's your main pawn, throw them into the brine and you'll get them back clean

do NOT sleep in towns if you have a plague'd up pawn

Getting annoyed at using skull splitter on big enemies like ogres and cyclopes, and then I land on their back standing up instead of just coming down to the ground, even though the ogre/cyclops is standing straight up.

That was awfully rude. I started fighting a cadre of goblins, then a minotaur joined in the fight. As I was dealing with them, a griffon decided to have some fun as well. I'm only level 16, game. God damn.

The random encounters sound a lot more dense this time around, like you can't walk 5 feet without 5 different creatures attacking you

The world is so packed with enemies that things escalate like this all the time which is amazing. Pretty easy to deal with as an Archer. I just get high ground and most stuff can't even get to me or stay very far back and pick everyone off one by one. I imagine it is hell as a thief or fighter.

It is hilarious when the deer start to attack you as part of the fight. I was ignoring one not thinking it would attack me and it knock me down then all the enemies swarmed to me. Luck I made it out of that situation alive.

I wish the game would let you mix up different class armors. I can't reach peak two-hander aesthetic without a floppy hat and heavy armor.

I was wondering why my team was getting their asses kicked so hard suddenly while I was leveling up my pawn's Sorcerer vocation

I'm gonna guess Calm is not the ideal inclination for that class because she's mostly MIA in fights, so it's me as Warfarer (still using Magick Archer stuff though), a mage that gives snu snu vibes, and one fighter. When the fighter loses aggro or dies, enemies head straight to me

There's no way it's not significantly adjusted or outright deleted later. It's just a pure downside annoyance

What the fuck I misclicked load from last save inn and now I can't load from my previous save. fml that's hours of progress lost.

Do not ever click load from last inn because it will wipe out all your progress prior to resting at an inn and campfires don't count.

It would be cool if there's some reason for it like if you let it wipe out all major towns it unlocks an ending that gives you some ultra cool equipment or even an achievement or trophy or something.

But for it to be an annoying "keep an eye on your shit and let it randomly break your gameplay loop by tossing your dudes in a river" just for a "lore" reason is just...terrible game design lol.

Is it preventable? Yes. But it's just such an annoyance to have to constantly look out for.

Maybe itd be better if they at least gave us multiple save slots but them locking us into one makes it feel very intentional.

-Find out about the Dragonplague
-No tutorial for it just a minor pop up that you can miss
-Pawns can wear helmets so you don't see their glowy eyes
-Red/purple eyes indicating the plague are also options when creating Pawns muddying waters with rented Pawns
-Infected Pawns can kill the entire population of a town if you fall asleep in an inn
-This includes major NPCs with quests and ties to the story
-Can't load before that because new save when you rest
-Only cure is to yeet them off a cliff
Is this in the top 10 shittiest design choices in an RPG?

and bye bye helmets on pawns, i guess. is there gonna be a fucking pawn meta where you have to see their eyes and no red-eyed pawns get hired? just mindblowingly stupid, no one asked for a "feature" where your pawn ruins your save file

I found that out because I managed to get myself onto a cliff that was a border wall along the path, and couldn't get down without massive fall damage. I was pretty annoyed.

Infected pawns everywhere

Each of the last 7 or so pawns I rented were giving me snark including the current set. So I'm gonna yeet all of them into the water or off a cliff as soon as I'm done with this elf escort quest because Warrior, Fighter, Warfarer, and Mage is working out really well

Escorting this elf chick is a fucking nightmare. A minute after every field boss encounter (not exaggerating we run into a field boss, and I keep on carrying away from the battle but she just keeps walking back up to the conflict and not even fighting, just looking at the monster. It feels like the game is dead set on having her killed

Gave in and bought the game. Thief seems fun so far. Barely got my pawn tho lol

I found a pawn with red eyes, a quest which rewarded 2 rotten fruit, and he basically greeted me with "the fuck do you want?"

Hiring him gave me the plague tutorial.

I just left him in the Rift.

I've taken to using Panacea as a pawn gift for the truly outstanding ones, though.

Holy SHIT I feel good about that one.

Incredibly massive spoilers, though kinda self evident.

So I'm at the last half health bar of The Dragon, he has basically my entire squad at 10% and crawling, he flies back, lands, starts charging a breath.

I go running forward, jump, hit the Mystic Spearman charge attack, and clock him square on the jaw when he's about to fire.

The backlash blew off the armor covering his heart, I come back in and double tap it to finish him off.

by sheer happenstance, i figured out how to rob the castle vault, i'll explain how and what you get in the spoiler, though there are no actual spoilers that i'm aware of

SAVE FIRST as you will go to jail if you're spotted. wear the marcher armor you can buy from the sundries store (or find elsewhere) to look like a guard, at around the evening, you can follow Disa from her room into the vault, normally no one but her is allowed in, guard disguise or not, but if you barge in while Disa is passing the door guard, you can loot the place in a counter-clockwise sweep to avoid Disa and run right out, no questions asked

items:
daughter of the evening (shield that can reflect gorgon sight)
wyrmhunter cape
20,000 gold
ring of reassurance (junk, boosts pawn defense after you revive them)
decayed medusa head (no idea, you can equip it and use it to do... something, but it's single use, so just save it. rare material?)
