Cool. Crime rose during COVID.

I wonder what it was during the lockdown that made crime rise. Could be an interesting study.

Well domestic violence rose because abuse victims were forced to spend more time with their abusers. Not sure exactly how guns became the #1 death of children other than said cases of domestic abuse/children having more opportunity at home to find guns and shoot themselves.

However, it's still the #1 killer of kids, so I don't think that can be blamed on the lockdown.

Conservatives don't care about stats. All that matters is that violent crime happens in a blue city proving they are crime infested hellholes.

When Republicans have a win, they don't celebrate or message on it here and there. They repeat it at nauseum to make sure the American people, and more importantly those swing voters hear it and think it's true. Democrats don't do that, they message on it here and there, but for the most part they let Republicans take the steering wheel on the narrative. Democrats believe the facts will speak for itself, and that the American people are paying attention to the fact

The problem is, is that "the left" don't allow democrats to run on that message. Because it's such a huge tent party, you can't really get that same level of behavior you can with the right. Look at any topic on here, and it's a microcosm of what has been going on with "the left" for decades. Point out X as a positive and suddenly people pop up and say well who cares because Y is still a problem and now everyone has to swarm around Y and worry about that when X is still floundering. Then when you get to a point where you can say Y is ok, other people go "Well what about Z? You can't even fix X and you expect us to think you can fix Z too?" It's something the right have been able to exploit with gish galloping. Just toss out a bunch of shit and "the left" will try to address all of them while they cackle and move on to their next 9 different things they are rat fucking.

For right wingers, opinion and emotion are reality. They can howl "fake news!" all day at outlets of hard facts.

If your response to actual data is "well it doesn't feel lower" as ifbyour feeling matter for recordable data, then yeah, it was a stupid post. About as stupid as the "I don't believe them" and "FBI is cooking the books for Biden" posts.

And there are also things that disagreeing on does, in fact, prove that the disagreeing party is stupid. They usually pertain to if certain groups deserve rights.

Eh this doesn't seem to be entirely accurate. Hundreds of not thousands of videos of crimes are posted everyday online, and those are the ones that were recorded. Pretty sure a decent amount of criminals manage to get away with their crimes too. Considering that and how many mass shootings we have it's definitely still a good idea to keep your head in a swivel. Not trying to say things haven't been improving under Biden or anything. Mostly feels the same.
