Going about my day being blissfully ignorant because there was no such thing as the internet or social media. There weren't even cell phones *gasp*.

That was called RF, iirc. Man, the 80s was like the dark ages, tech wise. I am sitting on my couch, streaming music videos on my 55 tv hanging on the wall, while posting here on my phone. 40 years ago, none of this even existed.

I remember it taking almost a year for a movie to come out on VHS after it came out in theaters. And rental shops like Blockbuster having it for rent before you could buy it.

Watching scrambled TV in general is a lost art. PPV events could be watched the same way.

Used to actually call friends to hang out, and talk to them for 30 minutes to an hour over the phone (as a guy).

Interrupted my moms business calls by switching the dialup to my AOL chat rooms.

Having 1 channel dedicated to telling you what was on tv for the next hour or 2 and if you missed your channel you had to wait for it to scroll all the way back to it.

Fuzzy skinemax channels, too

Cable TV channels playing programming that matched the channel name (videos on MTV, history shows on History Channel, science shows on Discovery, etc.)

1-900 phone lines. Not just the sex ones either they had them for everything.

My parents let me call those exactly two times: once was a touch tone button timing & trivia X-Men game, and the other was the Nintendo Power hotline.

My parents paid to have a block on 900 numbers on our phone. It was like $5 on the bill but better than possibly ringing up a few hundred dollars on toll calls.

That pick a cartridge nes machine in Sears where you could demo nes games. The nes had a place where a bunch of cartridges where all inserted and stacked up. You pressed a button on the display and it literally switched which cartridge it was reading.

Edit; apparently it's an m82 kiosk. This guy set one up and a display like ight have been there at the time in this Pic and I'm kind of jelly no lie
