I played it for a bit, but it sucked versus the version before it so I stopped after about two weeks of it being out.

Yeah I play off and on with big breaks inbetween. It might be one of the most unquie MMOs out there.

I played the f2p version back around 05-07ish. Have fond memories of playing it while blasting Iron Maiden's Powerslave album. Those two things will be forever linked in my mind. Can't remember if it was due to a glitch or a hack, but I remember that time where you could be killed anywhere and chaos reigned for a bit. Lost interest in it after a good while and didn't play it for the longest time.

I sort of got back into it a few months ago, but got tired of it.

yeah i was addicted to it for a short period of time (22 months total but like 14 months straight and another 8 months straight). burnt out completely tbh. well i couldnt sustain the pace without really fucking up my life

also holy shit one other person got banned. im rank 26 in construction now. i used to be rank 28. got up to rank 27 after some dude got banned. stayed there for like 4-5 years. now 1 more person got banned recently (not sure when).

1 more person banned and im front fucking page!!!!!!!

im the top of 2nd page now. there has gotta be at least 1 more scum in the top 25

In the first few months after game launched, I peaked at rank #38 construction (I was the 69th player to get 99 con lmao)

I pretty much beelined a max house when the game launched just because I wanted to host dope ass house parties (the house party scene is dead ;_;)

Never even bothered finishing the tutorial before I quit playing it years ago.

yeah not alot of roleplaying last time i played. the houses were only full because of prayer altars. i kinda liked chatting while training that skill tho

thought about hosting for the donations (idk if the hosts even get a lot) but ultimately decided not to to train other skills lol

I did host for a bit

the tips weren't as great as people make them out to be, but a nice highlight was very early on getting donated a set of full Saradomin

I played it for about 8-10 hours back in 2006. I thought it was boring and annoying as hell. Then again, I hate multi-player and it was way too crowded for me.

And to answer the question, "If you hate multi-player why play an MMORPG?" The answer is: some of them are really fun to explore. I loved most of my time playing WoW in 2007-08 and could find plenty of places where no one was around. Or very few people. I was enjoying LotRO as well, until it went ftp and morons flooded the game.

I did not enjoy Runescape at all.

Yeah I tried it in like 2003 I think. My computer at the time couldn't handle it super well and it was also a LOT to learn going in blind with nobody to help me, so I probably quit after a few days. I had friends in high school (class of 2010) who played quite a lot though. Or I should say "played" because they spent most of their time managing macros and such.

What I played instead was something called First Star Online, which was an extremely dumbed down version of the same kind of game. It looked like Pokemon (top down camera with grid movement/maps) and had an active battle system. People hosted their own servers and created their own maps, some altered the game in big ways to make it more unique if they were good enough at coding such things. You can still play FSO3 today although the game is pretty dead and I only know of one server which was active as of like 2021 lol.

damn i kinda wish i played osrs earlier tbh. was probably a fun time and more open ranks for skills. that said it seemed tougher to grind before the QOL updates from 3rd party launchers (like runelite).

i was still on rs3 up to 2016 and i quit that game after i got hacked for a brief period (lost like 25+ billion gp worth of stuff [prob several times higher now since rares have increased in price particularly the party hats]).

started osrs in 2018. a friend (not the youtuber) was talking about playing it so i started it up again.

I used to play this game years ago, but I completely stopped somewhere in 2017, and I don't even know why but I can't even seem to be bothered to come back either.

I've played Runescape since the original game came out but I will not touch Old School. Just too much progress and time invested in the main branch. Also the easter event this year is pretty dope.

Played free a little and found it insanely boring and pointless when I could have been playing The Realm or EverQuest instead

When I was 13 I was playing Runescape and I used to scam people all the time. One time I scammed this guy named Iceberg25 (or something similar) and he told his friend. Turns out the guy I scammed went to my future high school and the friend he told was the older brother of a guy I played Runescape with so he told him who I was. The following year I ended up meeting him and we had a laugh about it.

I scammed him by selling a black iron helm for a high price and swapping it for an iron helm at the last second.

Another one of my friends got a lifetime free membership for being either the 100,000 or 1,000,000 person to make an account. He let me borrow his account from time to time.

I also ran a successful guild and we organized on a web forum to meet up in the wilderness and kill people that were mining rune ore. That netted us a ton of gp.

Not much. I mainly played the OLD old school Runescape, the version that came even before what they call OSRS nowadays.

I had very limited computer access for a long time. Wasn't allowed to put games on the family computer because my mom had a friend who literally broke a PC by completely filling the hard drive with Sim City saves. Wasn't computer savvy enough to know how to fix it, either.

I played PSO instead for my early online addiction.

lol that reminds me of when I was in like 6th or 7th grade and my uncle had built me a computer with a 700 MB hard drive. And I saw Pharaoh (the old city builder) and the system requirements said 700 MB so I was like, "I have that!". I don't know how the game actually still managed to run even though the hard drive was completely full... I don't even know how it managed to install considering there was ... you know, Windows 95 and other programs on it taking up space >_>
