I've been doing everything because I feel compelled to, but I would have been happier if they had made it exactly as linear as the first game.

The padding is so real for this game. This generation in general. I very much miss the days of completing a game in 25-30 hours.

also locking a platinum trophy behind a second playthrough of a game this long is goddamn criminal.

once this sequel trilogy is complete, they can go back and actually remake the original game

I'm really trying to ignore all the Ubisoft open world bullshit and pretty much everything associated with Chadly but the game puts so much important stuff behind that stupid system that it feels bad to ignore it.

It is entirely too fucking long and it is goddamn criminal that they turned one of my favorite games of all time into some three-part, $200 and 150 hour long slogfest

Yeah, I'm around 30 hours and I just finished that.

The game is definitely longer than I expected, especially compared to Remake, but I'm enjoying the journey. The over world stuff runs a bit long (though that's entirely self-inflicted since I'm doing everything), but I think the pacing of the linear segments is better than the first game.

As someone who has no nostalgia for the original I'm glad they went the trilogy route for the remake.
The story and characters are really good and really let everything breathe in the remake. The OG was too fast paced for my liking.

There absolutely is once the other media and voice acting is brought in. First game was perfect length though. No padding outside of the combat sims and done in around 30 hours. The thing I dreaded most in golden saucer was the mini games.

never got to it in the original but I knew it was an amusement park thing. But the amount of mini games they stuffed in before the amusement park told me there was about to be a ton of BS to deal with.

I picked up Rebirth since I liked Remake... But I haven't been able to start it... After playing through Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, Persona 3 Reload, and Granblue Fantasy Relink back to back (with the first two being for Plats) and seeing just how long Rebirth is, I can't bring myself to start it yet... Need to find some shorter (and preferably not RPGs) to play for a bit...

im playing through it again actually for the first time in probably 2 decades with the full voice acting mod and some graphic mods.

Its far better than i even remember it being. Pacing is perfect

I liked the game but got burnt out at the end.

I tried 100% but at ch12 I said fuck it.

I dont even want to do all the optional fights anymore. Even though the gameplay is awesome.

it's a bloat fest. there's literally no reason for the game to make you do chores before you get beach access in costa del sol. they coulda made it so you just pick outfits for the beach but they make you do mini games to get costa del sol specific currency to get outfits. shit is egregious.

Sometimes I feel like I'm the only person on this site that loved the game. Yes, some sidequests are a little lackluster, but it's with a group of characters I like being with. And the world is just so beautiful I don't mind wandering through it. The towns in this game are the best I've ever seen in a game. The level of architectural detail is insane if you stop to look at it. Compare it to something like Pokemon where every building is a glorified shoe box. I just can't fathom the amount of work that went into designing this game. I really don't understand the hate at all.

That's not any different than someone who watches an entire TV series, which many people do. If something is good, you shouldn't care how long it is. It's one thing if it takes a dive, but Rebirth eclipsed everything that Remake did. And there's no reason to think that part 3 won't match it or even exceed it.

Im not hating. I dont think anybody legit hates rebirth. I do hate how long its taking to get to the point though.

You think the devs want to spend all of that time to build models, textures, and all that shit for a modern version of a place like Junon or Costa Del Sol and not have the player live in it for at least a few hours?

If you want the original game, go play the original game.

This game doesn't have that much stuff to do 50% of your time is wasted trying to figure out how to get to a spot on the fucking map

i've spent so little time doing anything other than the combat in ffxiv i don't know where anything is.

It took me 41 hours to finish the story. That's pretty normal for an rpg.

Honestly, the only issue I have is that some of the main story content is a bit padded and outstays its welcome. Whoever mentioned Costa Del Sol is right on the money, the mandatory stuff there didn't need to be so drawn out.

I don't see the issue with the optional stuff though. There's been more optional content than main content in most of the games. If you get a gold chocobo, beat all the superbosses and get all the materia in the original game, you're in for a similar amount of play time.

Speaking of the Golden Saucer, is there any purpose in buying those souvenirs that each area has at their GP exchange shop?

Or should I just worry about getting the items, cards and materia?
