Yes, some sidequests are a little lackluster, but it's with a group of characters I like being with. And the world is just so beautiful I don't mind wandering through it. The towns in this game are the best I've ever seen in a game. The level of architectural detail is insane if you stop to look at it. Compare it to something like Pokemon where every building is a glorified shoe box. I just can't fathom the amount of work that went into designing this game.
