Death penalty.

I've started to lose my taste for it though, but I would still consider it for especially egregious abuse of power high up.

Pro-life (ferus) pro-capital-punishment (screw murderer lives) gun owning Democrat here. Figure that out. Republicans see me as liberal and Democrats think I'm Republican.

Mind you, this stuff isn't black and white. I don't fancy abortions but I don't believe outlawing abortions is the answer.

Gun ownership is very important. Specifically in this political climate. Specifically so the left can protect itself from its terrorist counterpart.

I have a very "fuck around find out" mentality. Like, if you've been on the internet long enough and still get tricked by some stupid shit, that's on you. It's not doxxing if you made the info public, you just neglected to learn the safety standards of your environment.

I'm not sure it's in any particular political policy, but it does have a right wing "feel".

Also I'd really like for there to be a way to have sanctioned trial by combat, but there's no way to establish that without leaving it to be heavily corrupted.

I think the best answer to a Hitler or Pol Pot like despot is summary execution. I'm not for people like them being locked up in relatively plush prisons when the countries they devastated are in ruins and people are struggling to survive. I especially feel this way about despots in least developed countries as if you look up how the war criminals of the likes of Sierra Leone, Liberia and Rwanda are treated compared to penny ante criminals there it's not right and horribly unjust.

End rant

My policy on illegal immigration is generally if you come here illegally I'll look the other way as long as you behave. Commit an unprovoked violent felony and your ass is gone. Then again I also think a Marshall Plan for Latin America is the best way to end the immigration crisis in Northern America.

I guess I'm more pro-military than most on the left, but that's because I see the military as an institution with potential for good while recognizing the inherent responsibility of wielding such destructive capability. A volunteer army in the hands of a well informed democracy can be a force for justice, or in the wrong hands it can be the enforcement mechanism for tyrants. But what underlies all of this, is the stark reality that the world has large conventional standing armies serving under every state system on every continent, and so should we.

Maybe cut the budget occasionally though...

That mirrors a lot of my more centrist views too.

Thing is, none of those are single issue for me, though going to far to the right on Immigration is since we're directly dealing with the immediate fate of real people there. I'll take more lax immigration standards over cruelty and nationalism.

I suspect you probably lean that way too. I thought it was an interesting distinction to make.

Pretty much my viewpoint, with the added caveat that one of the main reasons guns do more harm than good is because there are a lot of gun owners who don't follow proper gun safety

This. If you're a safe, stable, law-abiding citizen, and can prove as such, then you should be able to legally buy and own a gun. Full stop. On pretty much everything else besides this, I lean left.

A budget cut wouldn't even actually hurt our military, is the fun/awful part. There are so many resources that just don't get used at all, so the system is for the auditors to come in, say "oh you didn't use all the supplies, you don't need such a budget". But, knowing this, the branches will burn resources so as to not lose budget. I learned this from a veteran friend. He played the world's most expensive game of skeet shoot, using droned and stinger missiles.

What they need isn't more budget, it's a goddamn manager.

I'm for a strong military. It does provide career opportunities for a lot of people who are poor and disadvantaged. I just don't like wasteful military spending, which there seems to be a lot of. Administrative bloat, building tanks and planes the DoD didn't even ask for, continuing to fund failed projects for literal decades, that kind of thing.

I cant think of any views I have that are anywhere near far right. On those cases where a leftist might disagree with me, I think they misunderstand what it means to be left, or at least they approach it very differently. I dont see anything meaningfully right or left about being in favor gun ownership, for example.
