Yeah, this isn't surprising in the least and has nothing to do with spine. He hitched his wagon to trump's as a purely political move, but it's a dead end so there's no point in him endorsing when trump wasn't going to have him as a running mate anyway (the fact that he's no longer the running mate after having been the vice president is more negative than anything he could gain by endorsing trump).

I'm not defending him. I just can't commit to memory every detail of every nasty thing that Trump has done or tried to do.

He told his MAGA squad to "fight like hell" there was the storming of the Capitol. They had a Gallows.

The craziest thing to me is that Scott was a Democrat who wanted their nomination for Congress or something, they told him no, he switched to being a Republican, they quickly nominated him, and then here he is.

yeah I'm pretty sure Pence only bailed once he realized he and his family were actually in danger.

Pence did the right thing once in his whole horrible excuse for a political career, and it destroyed his career.

I live in a liberal part of Indiana. In 2015/2016 before Trump picked Pence to be his vice president it was common to see anti Pence signs in people's yards. I'm sure in most of my state he was popular but he was hated where I lived.

Mike Pence is a piece of trash but to deny how he basically ignored Trump's orders and remained loyal on Jan 6th is dishonest. Even the worst people you know can stand up and do the right thing every once in awhile. It doesn't absolve him of his odious views but it still happened.

The fucking most hilarious part of the Trump presidency was the fact that Dan fucking Quayle may be responsible for saving American democracy.

Pence's goal was to get through the Trump presidency without ever looking MAGA to the traditional wing of the party and without looking unfaithful to the Trump wing of the party. Never condemn Trump but also never be out defending his crazy policies. Basically never make a decision, and he would've gotten away with it if it wasn't for those meddling insurrectionists.

The laughable part was that he ran his 24 presidency as if that was still a possibility. Still not fully endorsing or condemning Trump. By not endorsing Trump but also not going the full Christie, I bet he thinks he can try the strategy again in 2028.

I've heard a few people attest to how they have black male friends who got into politics as a Republican and they chose that party because they were straight up told they'd get paid to.
