So you believe most cops are usually low pay...ect....at least it's more than mc,ds walmart
No, I don't think they are low pay. They can make a lot, especially when considering overtime, pension, and other non salary benefits.

I just meant that it's not more than what I currently make right now.

My area would largely boil down to dealing with widespread drugs and traffic stuff. Thankfully, not much for any violent crime.

The Netherlands, the southeast region of the country. All the factors that contribute to crime are basically present there: lots of migration in a very racist aging area so theres a divided population and social strife, a region that lost its purpose (mines were closed and that doomed the region to poverty), and borders two neighboring countries so its perfect for drug trafficking.

Zwijn, are you near Dilsen-Stokkem in Belgium? I really liked that TV series filmed there "Hotel Beau Sejour" it seems like a really nice area.

why would you hate it so much though? isn't the avg pay above avg?

It can vary. It's about avg pay here. New Orleans at least like more than a decade ago they where the most poorly paid cops and they wondered why so many where corrupt and taking bribes

Anyone under the age of 17 gets a get out of jail free card for commiting crimes, and if nypd actually arrests someone get they released after a day anyway. So why bother arresting anyone unless they actually murder someone?

NYC dug their own grave, and hard working New yorkers will die in it. The recent subway shooting is proof of that.

yeah heard that that most new yorkers think that in general ny is way to lax on lawbreakers , have heard similar things about sf area. So you ride the subway frequently and it is getting much worse in your opinion, is crime in general in nyc much worse? Have visited a bunch of times there.

I'm not even sure how that recent Subway shooting backs up what he's saying. From what I understand, someone pulled a gun on a couple. The couple wrestled the gun of him and then shot him.

The initial victims are the ones who shot and killed

Apparently idk what their pay is but I heard a cop say he had been trying to get a correctional officer to switch over but he understood why he would cause he made more money at the prison.

As it is thr starting rate is problem 35k now it was 32 when I hired on but you get a raise every year up to your 6th year working there. Ontop of raises the state government approved which in my 4 years we got 2 or 3 2% raises.

I used to lean conservative because they tend to be nicer to us but our Democrat governor hasn't been that bad for us. So when he comes up for election I'll likely vote for him. The republican wanting to go against him seems like a real piece of work

Never been a cop. It has nuances though. Like whe you make a traffic stop you never know what you.are about to deal with.. in prison we know all these people (at least majority cause innocent people do get convicted) are criminals.

We at least know to assume everyone has bad intentions but we are locked in a building and outnumbered heavily by them.

So it's different. Cops are in danger cause they never know what to expect it could be grandma who wasn't paying attention to the speed limit or someone thats got a resaon ro run or attack.. it could be us dealing with known criminals and being outnumbered

I wouldnt mind things like helping new parents install car seats correctly, attending the fairs and festivals as a security presence, and general community engagement/charities. I would loath doing minor traffic citations though. Its a small town so they probably dont have much crime response; certainly not much more intense than maybe domestic.

That would be another issue for me. I tend to be uncomfortable in areas I'm unfamiliar with like another person's home. In prison I had the mentality that ot was my house

But yes, is obviously bad if Judges are releasing suspects who seem to be unsafe to the public, instead of holding them until trial

No medium custody. Most of the lifers where rapist or child molesters. But for them to have life they generally had more than one count.

Had a few murderers in for life but commonly they had 10 to 20 years.
