All of his movies seem like utter shit

do you think his movies are getting blanked because he made fun of the marvel movies? or maybe because he restores old and foreign films to try and preserve the past when so many are willing to pretend cinema's history never happened? or do the hollywood elite see themselves in his stories of evil hubristic men who destroy those around them, and dislike that?

No wonder he's so pissed off that he says stupid shit like "that movie that beat me doesn't count." Paraphrased, of course.

I think it's because the only movie he makes is Goodfellas

killers of the flower moon is a gangster movie but it isn't really exuberant or fun in the way goodfellas is, which makes being a gangster look cool. its much darker and sadder. same with irishman. the final half hour or so for each movie is like a knife twisting in your guts.

It isnt the cinema of human beings trying to convey emotional, psychological experiences to another human being.

either way every oscars there's snubs that people look back on years later and wonder why anyone gives a shit about these awards and it's really safe to say that this will be an example

Still very much disagree. I think history will show that the Oscars got it right this year with best picture going to Oppenheimer. And yeah, they have f***ed up many times.

Is that going to be your go to every time? I also am able to separate my personal feelings from objectivity and history. Ikiru is undoubtedly a more important film, and likely even objectively better. My issue is I saw Living first, and it is very solid remake that mostly removes the last 30 minutes of Ikiru. I did not like the last 30 minutes of Ikiru, because it rammed the anti-bureaucracy message so hard that I felt it thought the audience was stupid for not already getting it by that point.
