Ikiru is undoubtedly a more important film, and likely even objectively better. My issue is I saw Living first, and it is very solid remake that mostly removes the last 30 minutes of Ikiru. I did not like the last 30 minutes of Ikiru, because it rammed the anti-bureaucracy message so hard that I felt it thought the audience was stupid for not already getting it by that point.

yes. ikiru rules. and kurosawa is the god of directing unlike [whoever directed living idk probably some oscar bait loser].
