I've never voted. Kinda paranoid about it tbh, the nail that sticks out gets hammered down as they say. So I try to live my life like a shadow, if I pretend I don't exist, other people will not notice me. It's been working out so far!

When I was younger someone told me if you voted you'd get selected for jury duty. I believed it and never voted. But I still get a jury duty summons every year.

Might be one of few upsides to having a criminal record now. I dont have to deal with that shit.

My state used to go off voter registration for jury duty that was true for us, but a number of years back also included licensed drivers through the DMV.

Last November. It was basically entirely local elections, but those are just as important.

I'll probably skip the Kansas Primary in a couple of weeks though as it is basically a formality for Biden.

I Smacked Down my vote for Nader! So uhh before 2010. I don't think voting is pointless but it does feel controlled.

I forget the exact timeline but I'm fairly certain I got a jury summons shortly after I voted. It was in the same time frame for sure though because I was living out of county at the time and had to go tell them I was in school out of county and lived (temporarily) over an hour away. Got me out of it.

Now I live states away, haven't voted since, and haven't gotten a jury summons either (to my knowledge). It'd be easy for me to get out of though.

That's amusing the last time I got a Jury summons was around the time I voted for Nader. Maybe a couple years after.

My older brother votes and he got one a year ago heard it sucked. He was there all day.

I only got picked for the jury once and it was terrible. Got there at around 8:30am, didn't get out until after 8pm. We had to deliberate in this tiny hot room and watch a police tape of a drug deal over and over. Wasn't exciting or anything, just two dudes sitting in a dark car. Only got $15 which pretty much covered gas.

$15 for the whole day? In my state I think you at least get like $40, which still sucks, obviously.

It should be a days pay at least. The government should not be able to order you to do something at your own expense. Thats second amendment guys, any time now levels of fuckery.

I didn't get picked but I still sat in the city for awhile on call and then eventually they said I could leave. I didn't drive and this was before Uber so it was inconvenient.

I remember reading a book about Peyton Manning and playing a poker game I had. Got 15 dollars. Jury summons suck.

Especially since theyre morally iffy. Theres something like a 40-45% chance youre convicting someone for drug offences (shouldnt be a crime, no exceptions), and for most other offences the person would most likely rehabilitate better outside of prison than inside - and should only go to prison if they pose a demonstrable threat to society.

As I said above, besides convenience, Im glad I wont be called to help the state stomp on peoples lives for moral reasons.

My mom votes for the big election but she's elderly. She must not be in the desired age.
