According to an interview that started circulating it was going to be a Fortnite clone, but they took a 180 in early 2023 and it became a TS2 remake. If you look at that Story Mode demo it does certainly seem like that was the direction they were ultimately heading for since it looks an awful lot like a reworked Siberian Dam level. Was two years away from release so who knows, it could have been really good. Doom 2016 was COD game originally. What could have been... It's more that they Frankenstein'd Future Perfect to run a demo to try and get a publisher for it. But alas, BFIII getting canceled late in development killed the studio (they found files for the PS3 version on the dev kit.)
