Super Mario Land 1 is great. It has fun gameplay for 15 to 20 minutes. But it looks to be somewhere between NES and Atari 2600 for graphical capabilities and, again, it's 20 minutes or less once you know what you're doing. Super Mario Land 2 looks like a Super Nintendo game in monochrome and has a map with many more levels than its predecessor. I think this is certainly a viable response. I played SML on GB when I was a kid. GTA III was a mind blowing experience. Diablo 2 was a drastic change and massive improvement. FFVII was drastically improved in terms of hardware advancement. Playing that game when it was new blew my mind.
