I went back to America for a week last year in November to attend a conference. The price of food is truly nuts. I don't think I would eat out anymore if I still lived there.

From my observation that leads to lower prices on stuff at least compared to the west. Of course I don't know what the average purchasing power is in Vietnam so 4 bucks there could be a steeper price to pay than it is here in the states.

Youd have a point if I was earning a Vietnamese salary but westerners generally dont here.

We get Subway coupons in the mail every month. Three footlongs for $19 or two for $13 are the best.

That's only good if your subway accepts the coupons. Every Subway within a 10-mile radius of me refuses to accept them (same with the in-app deals)

I mean yeah footlings are expensive. Footlongs on the other hand... I just use the app which has at the very least a 20% off coupon (of any sandwich) and get a footlong and chips for about $11. Gotta save money since Hawaii is expensive :<

Food prices in general are really shocking imo. Last time I went to Burger King, two combos and an extra regular cheeseburger (or maybe two?) was like $45.

Depends on the person. I take home about $7k on a normal month and have no rent to pay. Thats above average for a westerner here, but westerners earn way more on average than locals.

Also, McDonalds is considered a luxury for a lot of people here. Its easy to get more local food (which is usually better) for a dollar or two.

some classic subs run as low as $7.49 here for a footlong, and they routinely do BOGO deals

The classic footlongs are still reasonably priced. The subway series footlongs jack up everything with not much extra value. You might get a little extra cheese but that's about it.

Where are you? San Francisco? New York? They are $10 in St. Louis. Besides, Subway is garbage, their sugar bread is disgusting, and they dont use enough meat and cheese, wouldnt be worth it even if they still had $5 footlongs.
