I firmly believe in correcting a childs behaviour. I just believe in more ethical and effective ways of doing it.

For what its worth, I was raised to believe that beating children, and anybody else really, who did something you didnt like was the way forward.
I was just able to grow beyond that mindset.

Im literally a professional in a field where I have to correct childrens behaviour, and a very successful one at that. Youre a bible-toting caveman who thinks hes speaking from a position of authority.

If a kid ever tries to tell me that something is fake news I will strike them.

I'm not a parent (I doubt I'll ever be one), but my parents used to deny me some privileges when I acted up, and let me know why so they didn't come off as assholes/what I had done wrong (when I was young enough).

as I got older, they also gave me some responsibilities, so that I was contributing/taking away from the family when I did good or bad things.

I didn't know about this video back when it happened, but I've been going to other sites that talked about it and some people think it's amusing. It sure as hell won't be amusing if the child grows up to be an unrepentant criminal.

The child clearly got that from somewhere if not from his parents. Possibly from another relative such as an older sibling, aunt or uncle. Maybe even from another kid that got it from their parents.

Also, and I know this will shock some people, but sit them down and explain why what they did was wrong and to correct their mistakes. You know, instead of just saying "don't do that shit" and beat them with something.

Let me just say I've seen kids who have been raised in a healthy and functional environment with two loving parents...who became shit heads and/or were always shit heads.

I understand kids pretty well. Possibly better than anybody else on this board. What we have seen does not suggest, let alone prove, that its the first one.

My favourite kinds of people are the ones who don't have children (or aren't a teacher, or just plain willfully ignores their memory of being a kid) assuming everything untoward they say or do is the parents fault. It's almost like kids are little humans with their own prerogatives.

I was that kid.

Now I have that kid.

In a good chunk of the world, it legally is assault. If its not where you live, that just means that your country needs to update its legislation.

It's not your job to "fix" an adult who has said something hateful; conversely it is within your right as a parent to spank a child if they have acted out as long as it hasn't reached the point of becoming excessive.

I never claimed a majority had outlawed it. I said a good chunk, and 65 is a good chunk.

It shits all over your stance that its not assault because it literally is in many countries.

Theres also the fact that even in countries where its legal, its not necessarily a widely used practice.

But given what youve said in this topic so far, I dont expect you to have the sufficient capacity for self-reflection to realise that youre the one in the wrong. After all, you can justify any level of dumbfuckery to yourself if you believe God wills it.
