We watched it on national TV. He stood at that podium gave that "peaceful" speech where he used the word "fight" 20 times, and the word "peaceful" once (so he could spend eternity referring back to that one time and go "See!? Peaceful! Perfect phone call! BUUURRRR." *shits pants*)

In case you don't remember this specific piece of floating flotsam in the raging whitewater river known as "Trump's crimes in office", this was Trump's reaction to Texas chud fuckfaces running Biden's campaign bus off the road.

The sitting president of the United States saw that his fuckhead followers committed violence against his political opponent, and he couldn't have been more proud of them, and didn't denounce it or condemn it at all.

The deadlines for the judgements in his civil suits are approaching.

• He has until the 16th to pay E. Jean Carroll $83.3 million + interest
• He has until the 25th to pay the state of New York $355 million + interest (interest puts it over $455 million with over $110,000 per day accruing)

NY AG Letitia James is going to start the process of seizing assets if he doesnt pay by the 25th. I dont think the asset seizure will be a thing that happens right away (Im sure theres a process to it of some sort), but Letitia James isnt playing around.

Also, Trumps first criminal trial starts on the 25th.

I hope he/his legal team gets slapped with penalties for clearly trying to make a mockery of his court with political and not legal arguments.

It's the same logic he applies to elections.

There's no redo or mistrial. I win when the results are overturned.

this is a boilerplate conclusion to a standard post-trial motion. i am guessing (without checking lol) that the judge's scheduling order provided for the holding off of post trial motions until both phases of the bifurcated trial were complete. if that's corect, then unlike all those times in trial when it was it was not up for challenge, this is the proper time for team trump to raise every possible defense in a motion for new trial/jnov so it is properly raised and preserved.

The issues claimed did need to be put into a separate motion following the jury verdict and entry of judgment to be preserved for appellate review, so it's not as obnoxious as it would otherwise be (such as the ruling on the motion for mistrial that Kaplan wrote a separate order on).

....This really is standard "motion to set aside the verdict" stuff, y'all. Nothing weird or out of place there from what I can see.

There's a difference between pro-forma filings and believing said filing with every fiber of your being.

Trump and his lawyers believe in every hand wave and privilege imaginable.

There's nothing in that filing that suggests that. At all. That's...like...just made up conjecture. For all you know, the lawyers 100% know he is guilty, and they don't care. They are doing their due diligence for a fat paycheck and exposure, which they'll get, even in a lose.

Like, Alina Habba literally didn't understand the court procedure and the judge had to explain it to her as if she were a child.

She might be badass in some other legal area (if I recall I heard someone explain her expertise/types of cases she normally tries) actually lies elsewhere, however she demonstrated she was wholly incompetent for representing Trump in the E Jean Carroll case and it speaks to both Trump "hiring the best people", and also who's left that's willing to take up his cases.

Also, the quality of his lawyers varies depending on the case. I think it was Glenn Kirschner talking about how his team handling the espionage case is actually doing a fantastic job representing him and it indicates that that case worries Trump the most because he's not using the chump squad to handle it.

Probably because someone pointed out that these are Trump lawyers, seemingly as a statement to the quality of their representation and/or fervor in how authentically they believe in Trump/his case, and your response was to talk about how they're making sure to get paid.

Yes, he's been funneling money from the RNC and supporters to cover his legal expenses, it's the primary thing his campaign has been spending money on and it's the reason the RNC only had 8m FOR ALL REPUBLICAN CANDIDATES when McDaniel was shamed into leaving.

He doesn't mind paying legal fees when it's other people's money.

These lawyers are likely requiring payment upfront. I know if I was their law firm I'd certainly make it a requirement before taking on his case.
