I agree with you, but I don't think you're convincing either Ulti or Red to abandon their date for D1 even if they're both town. I do think we should agree to not give either a free date for D2 for sure.

If it turns out that there are 0 scum in the final 3 as then I think it becomes a much worse source of information to analyze. No one in the final 3 can be blamed for pairing with any of the two remaining left if only to save themselves.

But I like the conversation around trying to divvy up the remaining 7 or 5 players because you're more likely to have a scum included in that chunk of the game, and the different opinions on how players should pair up might tell a more interesting story once we have more information about who was being targeted and who was being saved by the theory crafting.

It's Day 1. There's barely anything to go off of. Is discussing our tactics as a town going into N1 really that useless? This is our way of showing a majority via votes. We need to focus on working together and agreeing with pairings rather than worrying about gladiatoring whoever is leftover.

It's our responsibility as town to convince each other who to optimally pair with. Suspicions alone aren't enough; persuasion and cooperation are more important in this game than they've ever been before, because ultimately, it's the people who are unpaired that will decide the fate of each day.

There are ways to hunt scum day 1. You don't need flips or powers to find scum. I'm reasonably sure I've found at least two scum atm.

With all due respect, this is why blabbering about hypothetical final threes is useless. Skipping every step along the way to get to a theoretical conclusion is how you end up with illogical leaps like "what if we just left two people unpaired at the end of the day"

I think there's plenty to go off day 1 it's just we won't hit a scum most likely due to how the game works lol

fwiw there's no kingmaker here really regardless of who's left, corrik and chris could decide to just pair up as a 'fuck you' from both of them, for example

Sure, but it's easier to scumhunt when the threat of a special makes scum more willing to make riskier plays rather than simply pair up and idle out. Which could be the case right now, or it might not be. We don't know. There's no precedent to follow here

this is why i think we should just move on with pairing up to force a claim.

the most collaborative thing anyone can do right now is move the game state forward.

i just want to remind everyone that this is a game of very individual decisionmaking, and it's b8 mafia players we're playing with, so anything can and will go wrong at end of day, especially if we have little to go off of

if i end up being the last person unpaired then so be it, but we should let things play out

It's way harder to get scum day 1 in this format because scum can bodyguard each other and because there are only 20% scum

But that doesn't mean the right play is to just shrug and not try

Ultimately if no one is hunting scum then they can just skate by and bs reasons to trust their mates and subtly guide town towards dead lynches

The game is the same. Scum can be found-- mechanically they are harder to pin down but the only way we catch them into forcing bs reasons to trust each other is by trying to find them.

I've already done most of this work already in my response to Kirby earlier, but let's see.

Left to fend for themselves I'd definitely include Corrik and yourself.

I'd want Chris and Lopen off the board, but probably not with each other. So I'd pair one of each of them with Lea and Death. So that narrows down to 5:

Peaf, JC, Isquen, Corrik, Dumey

Which I think would be a great final 5, like if I could just wave a magic wand and put the 5 of them unpaired and all online with 10 minutes until EoD? I think it would be good data just to see what happened next between them.

But if it's up to me to decide I probably take Peaf and Isquen off the board and leave JC to kingmake between you and Corrik and hope that you and corrik don't just date each other.

Still over 24 hours left (most likely?) so lots of room for people to change my mind.

I have not done my due diligence and worked an early shift today, so now I get to partake a bit more. The day is still young, after all.

Currently I've got a "hell no, not even if you paid me" mindset of pairing with a third of the playerbase, another third being cold, congealed fish (including my prior offer.)

This leaves the spicy other third. Lea, Peaf, JC, Lopen, FD, even if you are previously taken, you all have my attention. Woo me like... one of... your French girls?

I dunno why you're getting hostile with me. I feel like we're on the same page, asking for the same information, just with slightly different priority. Me asking about who gets left to a Final 3 by nature implies who is pairing up before that. If you're really lynching someone because you feel they won't give as much info in a chat during N1, then you just end up with Corrik or Isquen getting axed because they're less talkative and not anyone's priority to talk with during the night.

Also I'm giving the option that Peaf and I don't have to be set in stone. I wasn't sure how set in stone you and FD were at this point. If FD was interested in looking at other angles or not. I just gave a potential option we could look at.

Yeah this is where i think death is missing things. It sounds like he's worried if he pairs up then the day is gonna end shortly thereafter? Which i think comes from a town kind of mindset.

I agree with jc that putting a fire under people before we have six hours left is going to be the most interesting way to proceed.
