Researchers found that 351 patients hospitalized with severe COVID-19 had evidence of a long-term brain injury a year after contracting the SARS-CoV-2 virus. The findings were based on a series of cognitive tests, self-reported symptoms, brain scans, and biomarkers.

What is long covid exactly? Kinda freaking out, I had it a couple years ago and I had symptoms for a while afterwards and I definitely mentally feel a little less competent than before (especially my memory).

Basically when you have permanent issues from it. An example is some people lost their sense of smell and taste and it never returned

That sounds terrifying. These did return for me but it did take several months.

There's a guy on CE who's dick still doesn't work right because of it. He's been very open about it and spreading that type of info is heroic. If we don't want to save our dicks what will we save?

I remember in the early days of Covid, there were people who got this who had hallucinations that they were being attacked by aliens or a sex cult (these were the doctors and nurses in the room and they were hallucinating horrible things were being done during treatment).

I think I read some of them still had flashbacks to those hallucinations long after the fact.

At least there are now biomarkers to detect long covid

My drum instructor has semi-permanent knee damage as a result, not a constant and consistent pain, however it is reoccurring and debilitating enough that he has to cancel gigs.

Somehow I've managed to avoid covid. Losing taste sounds terrifying to me. Even more so if it never returns. I can't even imagine not having taste. Is it literally like you eat bites of any kind of food and it always just seems like you are tasting water?

I had a fairly benign case in 2022 and it mostly felt like a slightly above average cold. I remember my taste being compromised but it wasn't completely gone, just diminished. If you've had the common cold before, you probably know the sensation.

Some study I saw about six months ago found that there was an extremely high correlation between sufferers of long covid and people who never rehabilitated themselves with light exercise as they recovered.

I wonder, is there a correlation regarding stress and mental health? Because my 5-6 day stint with covid happened right at the start of my legal problems, which was obviously a stressful period. That, and I don't exercise.

A lot of the world could be broken...and this is WITH having taking the cure...its horrifying how much we have just accepted so many terrible things because laziness outweighs all.

I worry I have that damage, but it's difficult to tell apart from concussion damage.

I think I got this too but I was never symptomatic. Although I did neet for 5 years.

I have a few of those symptoms and they all started after I had Covid.
I also have what I think are now permanent changes to my sense of smell and taste as it's been over a year and none of this is going back to normal.

Deserves a bump.

A lot of people panic when they hear about long covid. If you are really worried, see a doctor.

If you spent all day on your phone because you were home all day and have a headache, or didnt sleep because you were sick, then that isnt long Covid.

These are what I'm currently suffering from:

• brain fog, loss of concentration, or memory issues (cognitive impairment)
• headache.
• broken sleep.
• pins and needles, and numbness (peripheral neuropathy symptoms)
• dizziness.

I'm gonna go get checked soon because it's becoming a concern.

I am so lucky my COVID bout was only a sore throat for two days

probably helped that I had gotten my booster 2 weeks prior

I got it early during the Pandemic before I could even get the first vaccine and parts of it are still lingering with me such as my post above.
It's mind boggling to me that people are treating it like a common cold more and more and acting like it's not still a major problem.

If you have the opportunity have your spine checked. My GF had all those symptoms too after contracting Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever from a tick and it turns out she had major spinal stenosis with ankylosing spondylitis and a ruptured C6-C-7 disc, likely an old injury from a major car accident years ago that never appeared until the RMSF messed with her nerves. She is 1 month after her fusion surgery and is doing better.

That's possible too, I do have back problems that I've never bothered to get properly examined.
